Fraud decision will do real damage to Trump's empire
By Harry Litman / For the Los Angeles Times
Over the course of an 11-week fraud trial before New York Justice Arthur Engoron, Donald Trump practically begged for a harsh verdict. On Friday, he got his wish and then some.
Engoron issued a scathing 92-page decision that ordered Trump and his co-defendants to pay $364 million for defrauding the people of New York. And that gargantuan figure actually understates the price tag: With the addition of prejudgment interest required under New York law, Trump is looking at closer to $500 million.
Combined with the $83 million a jury ordered Trump to pay last month for defaming the writer E. Jean Carroll, the former president faces a financial hit that exceeds even his own likely inflated account of his empires cash on hand.
Like Carroll, the people of New York might not see the money soon; Trump has promised to appeal the verdict, though he will have to pay the penalty or at least secure a bond to do so.

(113,315 posts)I do not want TRAITOR**, or anyone even remotely connected to him (except for E Jean Carroll, and the state of NY) to ever again make so much as a penny, or a ruble, or any other currency, out of it, off of it, to profit from it in any way whatsoever, EVER!!!
So mote it be!!!

(10,125 posts)to cover this judgement for appeal is going to be under intense scrutiny after what AG James cisclosed.
Trump's other financial arrangements elsewhere may also be under extreme pressure
IRS is also probably breathing down his neck.
When they nailed him for Trump University, he borrowed the $25 mil from Ladder Capital - a company Weisselberg's son worked at.
He said he has $400 mil cash but had to borrow $25 mil for that.
There have been report(s) that bonds people turned down his $5.6M bond request for EJ Carroll's first case.
I wouldn't go near him either.
NY Monitor appointed by the judge on his NY businesses is overseeing everything so that adds a layer of trouble for him.
In the next 24 days, he needs ~$620M for the EJ Carroll & AG James cases.
Meanwhile, his campaign finances are drying up

His GoFundMe might raise $4 mil - which is peanuts compared to his needs
RNC cash is $8.7 mil - lowest since 2015. He can and probably will steal a bunch of that now that the fraudulent fox has that henhouse
He needs all that dough to to fund his lawyers who will burn through it by summer.
China, Elon, Vlad and/or Bonesaw are probably in on the bidding to own a Presidential candidate ...
I do not see an easy way out for him.
If he gets weirder, you'll know he's in trouble ...
