Chan Lowe: The death of trickle-down economics
http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/opinion/chan-lowe/sfl-trickledown-economics-20120802,0,2122506.storyWeve given trickle-down about thirty years to prove itself, which is enough time to expose the whole thing as a fraud. Far from floating all boats, its worked in reverse. Were more of a banana republic now, in terms of wealth distribution, than weve been in anyones memory.
Those politicians who so faithfully parrot the trickle-down line have been completely bought and paid for by the class they serve.
Whats more insidious is how so many of the have-nots on the other side of the fence have come to believe that their interests run parallel to those of the haves.
The reasons are apathy, laziness and an ignorance that allows people to presume that being a functioning part of an informed electorate is a pastimelike scrapbooking or tinkering on a carthat can be taken up or dropped at will. Civic duty is not a hobby. Its a requirement for each of us, if we care about the welfare of our selves, our loved ones and our country.
