'AG Pam Bondi eyes case against Office Depot employee who wouldn't print Charlie Kirk flyer'

"In an interview on Fox News’s ‘Hannity’ late Monday, Ms. Bondi suggested that she might direct the Justice Department’s civil rights division to ‘prosecute’ businesses if they turned away customers who wanted to print pictures of Mr. Kirk for memorial vigils, citing the case of an Office Depot employee in Michigan who was fired for rejecting such an order."

“ 'Businesses cannot discriminate,' she told Sean Hannity, saying that she’d already referred the Office Depot case to the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division."

“ 'We can prosecute you for that,' she said."

I think she’s trying the approach to compelling someone to act, like was tried with various cake decorating episodes. Can the printer claim a religious or belief system exemption, I wonder?

The requirement of a state actor is fundamental part of the First Amendment. The fact that TFG supporters and others do not like the speech from a private company does not give the govt the right to regulate such speech.

This cartoon does a decent job on the state actor requirement under the First Amendment
