So Trump is gonna steal $230M from US taxpayers and then give it to charity? That claim, if you know anything about Trump's history with charitable giving, is downright laughable.
Trump Claims Hed Give His $230 Million Justice Department Grift to Charity. Yeah, Right.
The president, who has a history of reneging on charitable pledges, ran his own family foundation into the ground.

(5,244 posts)1. Even if he did give it all directly to the widows and orphans
it would still be bad. People should not be conditioned to see help as coming from oiligarchs.
If help comes from the wealthy, the wealthy get to choose what cause to support, when to support it, and how much to support it.
If the public supports a cause, let us decide which cause to support, and how much, and when. And we will be able to support far more charitable causes because the money won't be funneled through the wealthy who take 90% off the top for themselves and, maybe, donate 10% of their wealth.

He also said that he would donate it to fund his 3 million dollar ballroom, which means taxpayers will fund it
