How Republicans can turn things around and win the Midterm elections.
https://signalpress.blogspot.com/2025/12/theres-blue-tsunami-coming-heres-some.htmlBoth Bill Clinton and Barack Obama were Democrats who had some great ideans and plans when it came to putting together universal health care for the American people. Obama's plan even reduced the actual cost of providing services, and increased the number of Americans who had access to quality medical care by the millions. Republicans could improve their political standing tremendously by coming up with a workable plan to reduce health care costs without reducing the quality of service provided.
Stop treating billionaires like they can buy the ability to run the country their way. Lowering and paying off the national debt will help the economy in ways we might not ever thing about. The only way to do this is to make the billionaire one percenter class of Americans pay their fair share in taxes. Fair share means the amount of money which covers the cost of all of the government services from which they benefit in order to make their money, that's what it means. And that's a reasonably higher percentage of their income than the middle class or working class pays.
If Republicans want to have even the slightest chance of not drowing in the coming tsunami, they've got to impeach and convict this President. Understand that J. D. Vance is not, in any way, shape or form, qualified to be President of the United States, either, he doesn't have anywhere close to the influence, negative or positive, that Trump does. And right now, Trump is a drag on the GOP that, even with their attempts to steal the election by gerrymandering, will cost them 40 seats in the House. Mark my words, I said it here.

Because for me, current policies, direction, and philosophy for MAGA are just too closely aligned and there is no such thing as the Republican party at this point...

(4,780 posts)Trump still has at least 80% approval from the Republican party. Sure, if they dumped Trump maybe 1-3% of Democratic voters would vote Republican. In polls of Democratic voters there are always 1-3% that seem to agree more with Republicans.
And if the Republicans dumped Trump they would probably get more support among the third of voters who don't vote. But would those non-voters actually vote? Probably 1-2% would. Remember, through thick and thin, there has been about a one third nonvoting rate and nothing has changed that.
But if the Republicans dumped Trump it would really infuriate their base, 80% of whom are maga. The Republican leadership has tried to marginalize Trump off and on for a decade, even before he was elected. But he was, and remains, one of the most popular politicians with their base in the country. If Republicans dumped him, the Republican party would be hard pressed to win any election in the country. And they know that.

(6,869 posts)Trump is dragging them down. So they are going to supress and cheat to the extent that Democrats will sit back and let them, and hopefully, the outcome will put some Democrats without balls out in the cold, and pick up a few who are ready to bust some heads.

(4,780 posts)Republicans here. If their gerrymanders have been cut so thin, down to a 5% or less margin, then a strong Democratic turnout coupled with waking up and energizing a few percentage points of nonvoters could flip districts.
And while only 80% of Republicans support Trump strongly, how many of the other 20% (probably financially focused voters) will vote for him anyway. Remember Trump's policies so far have been good for the top 5%. Maybe Trump's vultures will come home to roost before 2026 and some of that 5% will lose money due to deteriorating economic conditions.
