what might have been the biggest child sex trafficking ring ever. The bust described in the OP involved a bunch of lowlife pervs, not of the same "class" as Epstein and his wealthy pals. It has been said that there are only two classes: Those whom the law binds but does not protect, and those whom the law protects but does not bind; these seven creeps will go to prison, as they should, but Epstein's creeps are of the latter class. Nothing will happen to them, and they and others like them will just keep doing what they've been doing.

...sexual abuse and exploitation has been ongoing for as long as there have been written records, and long, long before. It's so prevalent one might say it's just "human nature." It's still wrong, but the (primarily) male sexual urge knows practically no bounds. We still can't seem to keep fathers from molesting their own daughters. I wonder what that actual rate of abuse is? Committed by 5%, 10% of the population? Higher? As far as I know, no one has attempted to put a number to it.

Same with gays. They have always been with us. Occasionally local or national outrage flares up and people go to jail, but it does not slow or reduce the % of people who are gay. Likewise, the number of people who are afraid of gays and beat them up, or kill them, seems remarkably consistent.

7. well, I would not call it lumping....

but I think I understand your question and point. No slight intended. Perhaps gays was the wrong choice. I was just using the two paradigms to illustrate that some things have always been with us. Child/female abuse, a horrible and disgraceful thing, has been with us practically forever, so it seems. When it is "discovered" it is usually punished, but even public punishment is not enough to turn people away from pedophilia. It's a sickness.

We've also had gays, and for that matter, "straights" or heterosexuals, since time began. Sadly, gays have been ostracized and worse over the years for nothing more than being a little different. I equate heterosexuals with homosexuals, but I do not in any way equate pedophilia with homosexuality. I am aware that many homophobic people over the years have equated the two, which I never intended to do.

You know, I don't know if trying to explain this is helping any. Perhaps I will delete the post.
