Pee Wee German "ORDERS" local & state police to "stand down and surrender" to Feds.
Miller claims that local and state police in Minneapolis have been ordered to stand down and surrender to the feds.
The baffling statement, which seems to deliberately ignore the fact the federal government has no authority over local law enforcement, came in response to a social media post from New York Post columnist Miranda Devine, who wrote that local cops have gone AWOL in the face of anti-ICE protests in the city.
Only federal officers are upholding the law, Miller replied. Local and state police have been ordered to stand down and surrender.
It wasnt immediately clear what Miller, who didnt attend law school, was talking about.

(24,785 posts)As a famous American said when faced with a surrender request for Nazis:
Moore wakened McAulliffe and told him, "The Germans have sent some people forward to take our surrender." Moore recalled that Brig. Gen. McAuliffe, still half asleep, said "Nuts!" and started to climb out of his sleeping bag.
Moore then went back out into the Communications Center where he briefed the rest of the Division staff of the on-going situation, including telling them of McAulliffe's remark of "Nuts!"

(10,841 posts)"surrender" to what?
As I understood it:
State and local police cannot be given direct orders from federal authorities.
Federal authorities handle federal crimes. But state and local police enforce all laws.
ICE has very limited authority with respect to the criminal laws - largely pertaining to immigration, customs, terrorism and transnational crime.
State and local police can enforce laws that ICE breaks
So I don't get where Miller is coming from (can't stand the guy)
