This Is It: Trump Is Openly Saying He Wants to Seize Control of American Elections
Robert S. McElvaine
The Republicans should say, We want to take over. We should take over the voting ... in at least many, 15 places. The Republicans ought to nationalize the voting. We have states that are so crooked and theyre counting votes.

Although this most un-American statement is available on news sources everywhere, I decided to source that quotation from Fox News to assure readers that it is not made up by some left-wing lunatic.
Here is the language of Article I, Section 4, Clause 1 of the United States Constitution:
The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations, except as to the Places of chusing Senators.
So, the President of the United States, the Leader of the Republican Party, which has long championed the Constitution, checks and balances, and states rights and vehemently opposed overreach by the national government is calling on his party to take control of elections.

(6,958 posts)First, prove that there are states where counting votes is corrupt. I'm sure there are mistakes made in all states, but Trump's assertion that blue states are cheating is an outright lie.
Second, when he makes these false assertions, the media goes crazy. They are ignorant and unaware that just because he pops off like this, doesn't mean he has the power or ability to actually do it. This isn't something he can executive order. It would require the approval of two thirds of Congress to change the constitution. He'll never get that. If he tried by force, it would trigger opposition that he wouldn't be able to overcome.
But in the for profit media, they're going to keep this going like they are his third term talk. That's not happening either.
