MYTH: Armstrong always was preternaturally giftedthats what his supporters continue to scream as they strain to defend the indefensibleand had he not been weakened by cancer his cycling reign would hover way above legendary. ...
MYTH: Armstrong was tested more than any athlete ever, upward of 500 times, and never once did the urine of a guy who won the Tour seven consecutive times come up positive. ...
MYTH: Even if Armstrong doped, the yeoman work hes done to raise millions for cancer research outshines all his faults. ...
MYTH: At his core Armstrong is a good, decent man, the child of a single mother who clawed his way up from humble means to become the next Greg LeMond. ...

(3,194 posts)Paterno, Sandusky, Armstrong.
In 2011, all 3 of these individuals were regarded with esteem. All would go down in the history books as some of the most gifted in their respective sports.
Now, they are all proven to be tainted, with their legacies scrubbed clean.
It couldn't happen to a better bunch of losers.

(11,464 posts)that line about good, decent family man of integrity who never lies
and IMHO- everyone who covered it up, is just as bad as Joe Paterno covering up Jerry Sandusky another "good decent family man of integrity"
the two of them (Lance and Jerry) give conspiracy theorists a bad name.
(or as that comic strip (don't want to name it and taint it in this thread) used to comicly say when mom asked did you do this? "Not Me" did it.

(77,094 posts)Ouch. ...... That piece definitely cast new light on him. Personally, I always believed he was guilty but a decent guy, but the report and this piece expose him as a real asshole.

(16,829 posts)who exploited his cancer and all the people around him for his own glory. Sure he's a talented athlete, but so are a lot of other people. And he cheated and he lied about it. Sure he beat cancer, but so have a lot of other people. Sure he raised a lot of money for cancer research. So have a lot of other people. Not all of them cheated in sports and cheated on their wives.
This guy is more than a little flawed. He can't even begin to admit he did anything wrong even after the whole team has turned in the evidence... he's still playing the victim. I have no pity for him at all.

(35,773 posts)... there is no evidence to support the theory that drug use brought on testicular cancer, which just happens to be most likely in men of the age when he developed it.
The rest of the article is worthy, but...

(2,522 posts)the guy being scum but I read that he is a big Romney supporter. Also I remember how he kicked his wife to the curb for Sheryl Crow--heartless.
