If all insects on Earth disappeared, within 50 years all life on Earth would end. If all human beings disappeared from the Earth, within 50 years all forms of life would flourish.
- Jonas Salk
Billions of humans are hungry, industrial propagandists have corrupted our understanding (sic) of nutrition, and much of how were programmed to eat is rapidly killing the eco-system. What are we gonna' do?
The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), in its infinite wisdom, suggests we eat insects and the corporate media jumps at the chance to publish articles with oh-so-clever titles like, Some salt with your spider? U.N. says bugs good for you.
Pardon me while I try to stop my brain from exploding.
Too many possible angles for article must cover it all

(3,102 posts)Corporations will find some way of owning the rights to different species. And our government, no matter which party is in charge, will eagerly enable them to do so.
That being said, personally I would rather starve to death than eat a bug.

(10,745 posts)There would be far fewer people starving to death today.
And also, this article was really, really hurt by the bit needless fearmongering towards the end; "We must stop acting as if we are the last generation of humans. If not, we will perish -- and take many, many other species with us.".....to which I and other reasonable people will say, yes, we should try to do better to respect nature whenever possible, but no, we're not at risk for extinction(which is really obvious when you think about it), not due to climate change, anyhow.
