Republicans and Democrats can’t even agree on baby names

From Washington Post's John Sides, Published: June 4, 2013.

"Republicans and Democrats don’t seem to agree on very much these days. They’re divided on the kinds of television shows they watch, cars they drive and beers they drink. And now new research by political scientists at the University of Chicago adds one more thing to that list: baby names."

Whole article at:

Interesting read, but not sure what can be drawn from it.

Not too surprising that conservatives are more traditionalist, and like hard sounds, old names, and the names of famous leaders or Biblical figures, or that liberals sometimes favor the esoteric or pretty-sounding names.

There's a lot bound up in naming a child. Attitudes and beliefs of the parents, hopes and aspirations for the child. A desire to carry on tradition or blaze a new trail.

It is interesting to see someone study enough to actually see it.
