by Lindsey Little October 11, 2013
Today, Mayim Bialik gave fans a sneak peak of her latest book, Mayims Vegan Table on her Kveller blog.
The cookbook, due out in February, includes 100 of the actresss favorite recipes.

I love turning traditional Jewish foods vegan without sparing the deliciousness or heimishe taste of so many dishes I grew up with: rugelach, babka, sufganiyot, latkes, tzimmes, kugels, hamantaschen I could go on and on, but suffice it to say that just because I am vegan, it doesnt mean I dont want to still make delicious food that suits all of my ethnic and gustatory needs, as well as those of my friends and family.
Mayims Vegan Table is available for pre-order on Amazon, with a portion of the proceeds going to her work on Kveller.

(40,416 posts)Sorry. I cannot do vegan, let alone vegetarian.
The ones I really get a kick out of are the breathairians, who just die if they do what they claim to do. Hint: They don't do either -- they sneak Burger King hamburgers when nobody's looking. Just like Buddha Boy, breathairians are a fraud.
This post reads like marketing spam.

You must be a fan of the Big Bang Theory too!
They could write a whole episode based on your reply!
Scene I: Sheldon confides in Leonard
Sheldon: "Leonard, I think Amy Farrah Fowler is trying to kill me!"
Leonard: "She cares about you, why would you even say that?"
Sheldon: "Because she's not just an excellent neuroscientist, she's also an excellent cook!"
Leonard: "So you think she's trying to poison you?"
Sheldon: "No, she's trying to starve me to death! She keeps cooking me delicious vegan meals! I can't help myself but eat them!"
Leonard: "Vegan food won't kill you!"
Sheldon: "Breatharians die!"
Leonard: "Breatharians don't eat anything! There are many vegans, even Bill Clinton is vegan"
Sheldon: "I grew up in Texas, and my mother told me if I didn't eat my meat, I would die! Bill Clinton must have been replaced with an android!
Leonard: "Bill Clinton hasn't been replaced with an android!"
Sheldon: "Bat Boy is a fraud!"
Leonard: "What???"
Scene II: Sheldon confronts Amy
Sheldon: "Amy Farrah Fowler, are you trying to kill me?"
Amy: "No! How could you say that? That hurts!"
Sheldon: "Then why are you always cooking such delicious vegan food?"
Amy: "Because I'm vegan! Vegan food is good for you!"
Sheldon: "My mommy told me if I didn't eat beef I'd die!"
Amy: "That's just a myth believed by superstitious people in Texas!"
Sheldon: "But breatharians die!"
Amy: "Breatharians don't eat anything! I'm vegan and I'm not dead!"
Sheldon: "Well maybe you've been replaced by an android! A homicidal android! It's a conspiracy by androids to replace the human race! You're a fraud, just like Bat Boy!"
Amy, pointing to the door and shouting: "Out! Get out! And don't come back!"
Sheldon: "Can I have dessert before I leave? That vegan ice cream is so yummy!"

Actress makes the shift from television to neuroscience and then back again.
Subject terms: Careers Neuroscience Publishing
Perhaps best known for her role as Blossom on the 1990s television programme of the same name, Mayim Bialik took the unusual step of turning away from television after the show ended to study science at university. Then, as she was about to earn her PhD in neuroscience from the University of California, Los Angeles, Bialik became a mother. Although Bialik did get her PhD, parenthood ended her pursuit of a research post. It also led her to turn back to acting, this time on the scientist-centered comedy The Big Bang Theory.
How did you become interested in science?
I had tutors for every subject while I was working on Blossom. But it was a biology tutor who gave me the confidence to know that I could be a scientist even though at first I had the feeling that science and mathematics were more for boys.
How did you end up doing a PhD?
Some of it was momentum. I studied neuroscience as an undergraduate. I was pleased to have a new life after Blossom. After that, I had to choose between medical and graduate school.

(8,267 posts)here's the letter I would love to get into the hands of someone who could make it happen:
Dear Ellen,
Please do a show about Veganism! You could feature yourself and Portia, Mayim Bialik, Big Dog Bill Clinton, and hundreds of other people (me! pick ME, Ellen!) who've chosen to be Vegan.
We could have cook-offs, and discuss the myriad health benefits. We could share great ice cream recipes, and talk about adapting "meat" recipes, like the delish gumbo I made up (hint, hint!).
Please, please, Ellen! I will eagerly await your call!
Warmest regards,
A Fellow Vegan
(Just FYI, I've lost over sixty pounds since becoming a vegan, and I haven't changed how much I eat, or how often. I feel great!!! And, I am making peanut butter maple "ice cream" this weekend.)
Behind the Aegis
(54,007 posts)....You can send this directly to the "Ellen" show. Also, she has had more than a few segments that feature vegetarian and vegan options. There was one from last season where the person only made vegetarian and vegan recipes. They should be on the Ellen site (I haven't checked). There was a segment on gluten-free too.

(28,276 posts)....but I still think Ms. Bialik is gold-plated in "Big Bang Theory." She steals every episode in which she appears.
