(55,981 posts)he said conservatives love their Bud and liberals drink beers imported from Europe. Where does he hang out? All the liberals I know drink local micro-brews.
The rough-tough conservatives love their light, light Bud (with water added) coming in at a whopping 1% alcohol while the whinny ass'ed liberals drink Silver City's Whoop Ass coming in at 8.5% alcohol and 85 IBU's. And yes I am a beer snob.

If it wasn't watered down.

(18,998 posts)Beer from a micro brewer?
How much more commie pinko can you get than that....don't you think you should support real American companies like Budweiser and Bush?....next you will want to socialize our beer too.
And the lite beer is because we need to drink a lot of it...in fact we will always have a bud in hand no matter what we are doing while recreating...it is part of the style of the big beer drinking brotherhood of man.

(55,981 posts)That's ok, I think I dated my self once back in the 60's, but that's another story.
How much more American can you be to support your local capitalist brew pub?
Actually, after a couple of pints of IPA I could care less about your politics.

(55,981 posts)"quality" imports are acceptable. But it's not easy to find "quality" imports except maybe online.

(3,300 posts)Madison is a very progressive city and we are very serious about our beer. Our local brewery, "Ale Asylum" makes some really asskicking micros.

(28,498 posts)And I didn't agree with his statement about Whole Foods and "beef raised 20 miles from here."
No matter the store, I always appreciate knowing if the meat and produce is local or not. I like to patronize local farms and producers. Good for the (local) economy and good for the environment.
Not that I don't buy food from other parts of the country, or even foreign country. I just like to know that I have the option of buying locally...

(55,981 posts)you are being political.

(4,103 posts)And if he really wants an answer to his question, he has to look no further than the internet,
The internet has turned us into a planet of whiners, sure people used to whine before the internet, but nobody listened to them.
Now, everyone has a vehicle right at their fingertips to get their two cents in and they use it, and use it, an use it.
We have even turned it into our favorite form of entertainment, there are entire news networks and radio networks dedicated to it.
I hate to say it but reality is becoming obsolete, due to a lack of interest in it.

(16 posts)Nope, don't recall ever being filled with rage at the sight of Laura Bush. Her husband, yes, but not her.
Douglas Carpenter
(20,226 posts)and I don't recall anybody else reacting that strongly one way or another about any of the former first ladies. With Obama, it is just plain blind hate

(20,226 posts)But Republicans now do it routinely and with zeal. Perhaps it has something to do with their emphasis on family values?

(8,262 posts)about all she and President Clinton went through. I believe the rage against Michelle Obama is purely racial (just look at the comment section of any article or video about her) whereas the hatred toward her husband is more complex (though still rooted in race).

(3,300 posts)Valium or Xanax? She always seemed medicated. But then when you think about her situation, you understand, and feel kind of sorry for her, rather than angry.

(6,181 posts)She didn't seem like a bad person or anything. I felt sorry for her for having such an idiot for a husband.
I had nothing against Nancy Reagan except when she tried to take our weed away, lol.
I had nothing against Babs Bush until I heard her say things were working very well for the Katrina victims in the astrodome. I think that's the angriest I've been at a First Lady.

(5,364 posts)And yes, it IS exhausting having to filter everything one eats, watches, wears, drives, sits on, drinks....all through one's ideology. Really, it's more than exhausting: You'll get a freakin' ulcer from the cognitive dissonance!
