(492 posts)I don't believe that this guy exists. I think he's a digitized animation created by the Zombie God to eat the brains of small children.
Also, I'm beginning to wonder about Pennsylvania.

I laughed in his face.

(32,723 posts)Later I was told the time scale was all wrong. It was all pre-Flood and just a few thousand years old.
Then there's the astronomy from these people which really makes me believe they are actually experts in chemistry.

(22,211 posts)Our solar system is the center of the universe. How do they know this? Because all the galaxies are moving away from us, as the universe expands!
The universe was created as is, with light photons already on their way to earth.
The speed of light was actually much faster in the early part of the universe's 6,700 or so year history.

(38,211 posts)...and it's never the creationist. They aren't scientists, they are missionaries who argue like lawyers and their juries are their own home team crowd.
If you argue with one, content yourself that whatever you say will bounce off him and the true believers around him, and steer what you say toward anyone else who might be listening. (which is easier said than done, of course)

(11,171 posts)People all KNOW that religion in its organized and systematic forms - whether this ass-clown with the chimp-like appearance and the addled brain that discounts modern science in favor of agrarian fables; or the papal enclave in Rome last week, with the golden laced linen dresses for the participants, while they simultaneously condemn millions to die of AIDS in preventable African transmissions; or the monstrosities of the religious wars in the Muslim world to prove whose interpretation of Mohammed's dehydration hallucination fantasy is more correct - ALL organized religions are a boil on the ass of humanity and it must be lanced!

(10,745 posts)They represent a very small, yet extremely vocal part of American society that just won't ever quite go away on their own no matter how much we try to ignore them.....the best thing to do IMO, is to confront this fringe of society, and expose & debunk their nuttiness for what it is.
Only then, will people like Glenn Beck, Guy McPherson, Kent Hovind, and Norm Olson, face the possibility of true irrelevancy.....

(7,865 posts)What is a "Climate Doomer?" Do you mean "Climate Denier"
AverageJoe90
(10,745 posts)In simpler terms, however, they tend to have an extremely pessimistic view of things.....but to be more specific: they are absolutely sure that we are just totally screwed no matter what, because fate, because humans dumb monkeys, etc., etc.(and, in the minds of many of them, that anyone who disagrees with them is a denier or "minimizer".
More specifically:
1.)The absolute worst case scenarios of climate change, or something even supposedly worse, WILL come to pass, no ifs, ands, or buts.
2.)That we cannot do anything to mitigate climate change.
3.)That nothing more will be done to mitigate climate change, and that this is esentially written in stone.
4.)That the IPCC and certain other organizations are purposefully "downplaying" the potential severity of climate change in their studies and other research.
5.)And that actual human extinction due to climate change alone is possible, and/or that global civilization's collapse solely due to same said thing is inevitable, and/or imminent(they usually go together).
(Although yes, I'd agree with you that climate deniers are their own brand of nuts as well)

Along with evolution there are other theories like;
GRAVITY,CONTINENTAL DRIFT, RELATIVITY
We use all of them until someone comes up with a better theory.
(that is then SCRUTINIZED by peers in the same field)
the word "THEORY" doesn't mean that its wrong...
