All the way back 3.5 billion years ago they started changing a large portion of the CO2 in our atmosphere to O2.

the O turned the Fe in the seawater to Ferrous oxide (iron) which settled out to the bottom of the oceans giving us our iron ore deposits today.

Pretty much any spark would start a conflagration that would be extremely difficult, if not impossible, to put out. A single lightning strike (out of the thousands that happen every day) would pretty much mean the end of everything.
