the frog in the slowly heated water, he will not get out of the pot when he can and will stay until its too late (boiling)!
The discussion on OWS was interesting. "The police crushed it." Why did they crush it? In NY they were given $20,000,000 reasons by Wall Street! I hope we eventually will rise up and take to the streets to demand COMPLETE CAMPAIGN FINANCE REFORM (CCFR). Our country will continue to regress and become more corrupt until, and unless this happens! The big banks and the media should be broken up. The powerful corporations and their lobbies run our Government, the Judicial branch, and our media. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has had a plan to consolidate power in corporations for the last 30 years and it has been wildly successful. They focused on State and Local elections, including judicial elections. Those were cheap and easy. Those people they put in power have moved up through the ranks (with their help) and are effecting the changes desired by the powerful corporations. We have been blissfully ignorant to the erosion of our rights in some cases and demanding of it in others (now warrantless door-to-door search for Boston Bomber).
Forget the myriad issues where we fight with Republicans over things like guns, abortion, gay rights!

They are all very important issues, but we are asking a corrupt government to resolve them for us and then we are outraged when they get it wrong! Let's get a Representative government where our politicians are elected by us, the people, instead of big money. Would gun control fail in a Congress elected fairly, without campaign donations? Would banks get a bailout, but not Main Street by a Congress elected by us? Would Congress have time to address the jobs issue if they did not spend 60% of their time raising money? Would these "Free Trade" agreements that allow outsourcing of our jobs overseas have passed? Look at the forest instead of the trees! Let's get behind CCFR and let's start the movement here at DU. Now is the time where you can make a difference just by spreading the word, demand CCFR!!!!!!
