(14,656 posts)come back to "Occupy" as the way our of our present dilemma and othoh
explains how it has been effectively shut down. So then what Chris? Do
we continue with "Occupy" knowing that it will only be shut down repeatedly?

(1,939 posts)The problem with the occupy movement was that too many Americans didn't relate to it. They allowed the government to first label it and then to demonize it. The vast amount of Americans think they can hide from their problems, as their government takes their social net apart one tear at a time. I would not underestimate how much more damage that, the forces that are destroying this country behind the scenes, figure they can do to this country and nothing will happen. It will only reach a tipping point when the vast majority of Americans side more with the people protesting than they do with their oppressors.

(14,656 posts)correct about Americans hiding from their problems (possibly?) believing that someone else will
come to the rescue like the cavalry in old cowboy western movies not recognizing the
answer lies within their participation.

(26,624 posts)make it necessary to teach about labor..... I think steps like this open the door to learn about the institutions that can and do effect labor.... Right now labor in Wisconsin can have bargaining rights if they are only part of the institutions that in force the law.... Police rightly are challenging this in the courts....
Learning about the institutions that run things is as important as getting a drivers license or money management....

I haven't heard any updates about this but it seems our courts are bogged down at the state level with violence, a judge choking another judge, and illegality, secret oaths to keep info. about how the state was re-mapped before the election, so I don't know how or when this will be resolved....

(4,695 posts)200 women with their children go in to a grocery store one after another, drive around with the food cart, fill it up with food and mild and all of a sudden head to the front of the store and then out? Food stamps will be reduced year after year starting soon. How about students in a cafeteria? People and families living on the streets?
