(1,829 posts)From an African American mother who has had to bury a young son because of senseless violence. Twenty-one years later I still weep for what could have been. Trayvon's murder hurt horribly. The verdict devastates me.

(1,829 posts)If Zimmerman had run up on a REAL thug you would have been able to tie your boats down on the knots on his head. A real thug slams your head on cement, it's lights out. Stop talking what you obviously don't know. People who live in areas where fights happen don't need a damned coroner, medical examiner, clinician to tell us Zimmerman was NOT in a fight for his damned life. He was trying to restrain Trayvon and he was trying to get away from him. Take your nonsense where it will be appreciated?

(32,723 posts)The prosecution wasn't representing the Martin family on behalf of their dead son, they were representing the State that family was going to SUE so they had a motive to lose this case. This included race off the table and approving jurors that would rule a guilty verdict.

(1 post)The Zimmerman verdict is the most disgusting fact that I've witnessed since the murderous brutalities of the 1960's.
There wasn't enough emphasis on why he pursued Trayvon Martin. The police told him clearly not to go after him. If Zimmerman had testified he would have hung himself after answering this question. There is no logical reason other than him wanting to play hero.My emotions are devasted over the outcome because I am also a mother. He will have to watch his back as well as his familiy for the rest of their lives. I believe that if a stronger prosecution team had been on the case there would have been a different outcome. Celebrities as well as others should have financially contributed to the cause.
Another factor about determining which one of them screamed during the struggle. Zimmerman had no reason to scream. He is the one who had the power of the gun. Trayvon had nothing to fight with, but his fist. If someone is following you it's only natural to stop to find out why. This is probably what led to the physical aspects. I hope there is a civil action suit. Race had everything to do with the intensions of Zimmerman. If the roles were reversed the situation would have brought a different outcome. It would never have gotten that far and Trayvon would have gotten the maximum penalty.
Now ,there isn't much left to be done for Trayvon's family except pray for them and hope there is some other type of justice coming there way. Trayvon is gone forever. Who knows what he might have become someday. His young future was snatched away from like a thief in the night. A thief named George Zimmerman.

That was a prosecution endorsement of Zimmerman's hearsay testimony.
The prosecutor should not have offered that testimony and should have objected to it. Essentially, Zimmerman was allowed to testify but avoid cross-examination. Huge error on the part of the prosecution.
I hope there is a civil trial if only to watch the cross-examination of Zimmerman.

Not since 9/11 have I seen so many reporter or journalists so emotional about an issue. Just seeing Cenk take that deep breathe when he first started talking it's obvious he's in pain like so many of us.

Trayvon did what all parents tell their children when they come out of the womb....get away, walk, run, do whatever you can to protect yourself. What do we tell ALL children? Just remember, those three young women who were kidnapped, listened to their elder, the kidnapper. A kid can never know what is going on in the mind of a depraved mind....and hunting down a teen, for no apparent reason other than he was black, is a depraved mind.

(8,219 posts)Cenk wonders why.
Because sociopaths always cast some sort of spell over some people.
If you look at sociopaths who are on trial, they always have some sort of "groupies" who are willing to defend them.
I guess it's the fascination with looking into the face of evil.
