(14,255 posts)As an atheist, my ideal in that sphere of life would be to have a void, to not even have a sphere at all, to not have to think about or be affected by religion in any way, shape, or form.
But no. Intrusion all over the damned place.

(5,364 posts)This issue is part of my tipping point from me going from the republican party to the democratic party ( The GOP going full-on plutocratic being the main thing ) Hell, I was baptised at birth, went to sunday school and church and all that shit. Through it all, I found that while it was, and could be uplifting in an ethereal sense, it was and is still faith based bullshit.
Inner strength and fellowship among like minded sorts? Fine and dandy. The blueprint for public policy in the US? No fucking way. I want my government secular: That is, of the ( real ) world and reality, using critical thought. Anybody that believes otherwise is nucking futs IMO.

(20,776 posts)A Christian Theocracy. To do so would be highly unfair to those who are either not religious, or not Christian. The idea that some Congressmen and or House of Representative Republicans wants to PUSH CHRISTIANITY into our daily lives.. even when some of us, are not so..is very scarey. Whats that saying? That Fascism will come with the Bible wrapped in the American flag? Can you just imagine the horror of it? If America is willing to use Torture, than surely Torture would be used on the Non Christian.
