Oddly enough, despite the popular mythology poor whites are more likely to vote Democratic than Republican regardless of region or education levels. This doesn't mean that in the reddest of red states there aren't a lot of poor people voting Republican rather then Democrat, just that the middle class and the rich vote even *more* heavily Republican.
