Related: About this forumFrank Zappa's call to TAX THE CHURCHES
I finally found this! What I want my DU buds to appreciate starts at about 1:13 or so into this vid.
A couple of interesting points. This is a LIVE SHOW BROADCAST LIVE on MTV in 1981. Back in the day when MTV was still new and trying to figure out what they were supposed to do. Well, I think they learned pretty quickly live Zappa wasn't the most "Sponsor friendly" content, given Frank's body of work.
Dweezil Zappa in the late 80's seemed to be doing a good job as a MTV veejay. Then his dad was one of his guests and said something disparaging, perhaps MTV itself or the music business, and got his son fired.
Dweezil tours extensively with his Zappa Plays Zappa shows and he's been quite successful. I prefer shows featuring a lot of Frank Alumni - Nappy Brock, Terry Bozzio, Steve Vai and others. (A young Steve Vai is the second lead guitar in this video)
Enjoy!

(6,829 posts)actually, Frank's anti-organized-religion material seems to start around 1:00.
I'm in a few FZ Facebook groups and I recalled I did actually go to a Halloween Palladium show! Also drove down to Zappaween in Philly in 1986.
I am square in the middle of Frank's demographic as he once described.: an aliented pimply smart but ostracized suburban long island teenager.

Now, that's where the money should go.
To taxes?

I sometimes wonder what the dark GW Bush years would have been like if Frank had been alive to comment on it? Frank had a gift for speaking truth to power.
And he even became friends with Al and Tipper Gore after the PMRC hearings in the mid 80's!
