Papantonio: Chris Christie a Cash Cow for Corporate Media

Mike Papantonio appears on The Big Picture with Thom Hartmann to discuss the media horse race already surfacing around New Jersey governor Chris Christie, who is trying to come across as a moderate instead of the bullying, mean-spirited Republican extremist that he really is.

We need to get ready for a rough ride in 2016. Remember the 2008 general when the President was the golden boy of the media and John McCain was the butt of every joke? Sure they deserved it but I don't think that was the reason the media acted the way they did. They were looking for a good story and a new leading man that would keep people tuning in.

I am pretty sure that Elizabeth Warren or Joe Biden would end up being a national version Barbara Buono in a battle against Christie. It's up to the voters who will be running against this man but I wouldn't trash any of our primary contenders in public. He has a big advantage right now and our own party and the media have given it to him.

But I think what happens the next 2 years will make or break him.

Remember how the media tried to crown Giuliani mid-way through Junior's presidency?

If Obama keeps making constant mistakes, then 2016 is Christie's.
