That said, I wish he didn't use such a reference.

Of course, they call him a misogynist and want to deport him...because speaking the truth makes right-wingers uneasy.

First he establishes the methods slaver Thomas Thistlewood used to discipline a slave. This included beatings, physical abuse, and being force-fed human stool or urine.
Then, ruminating on Palin's ignorance, insensitivity, and generally negative impact on our national discourse, he concludes:
"If anyone truly qualified for a dose of discipline from Thomas Thistlewood, then she (Palin) would be the ideal candidate."
You don't even have to read between the lines to get that message!

(32,723 posts)The Right Wing wants the rich to lose their money in the casino that is the Stock Market instead of putting it the security of the Bond Market so they are constantly claiming America can't afford to pay it's debts. That "America is broke", and they call those bonds "I.O.U.s".
This became apparent again in the 2000 election when Bush and Cheney were "talking down the economy" and had to be reminded that it was against the law for government officials to out and out claim that U. S. Treasury Notes including currency or bonds were useless. They get around that by not being specific.
I say we nail them down and expose their lies. Make them say what "note" they are talking about. You'll see them avoid answering like you had just asked them their ATM pin.

(9,298 posts)who describe Palin's interviews, speeches, ramblings, etc. as "word salad."
If I combine spinach leaves, crumbled bacon, a couple of hard boiled eggs, cherry tomatoes and mozzarella cheese, topped with poppyseed dressing, I've got several parts that, when combined amount to a helluva delicious salad.
Palin's words, however, when combined, don't amount to a hill o' beans!
Martin will probably get some flack for his comments, but I'm very glad he said them.

The Republicans are the ones who run up the huge debts with their wars and tax breaks for the rich. The Democrats are left to clean up their mess, and while they are doing that the Repugs are yelling "tax and spend!" and doing everything they can to sabotage the Dems efforts. Sick puppies.
