The Sunshine Mine, which is unionized, suffered the worst loss of life in a unionized mine when refuse between the air intake and the work areas spontaneously ignited and killed 91 miners by carbon monoxide poisoning.

Unions do great things, and the union is a large reason the death toll isn't 173. But mining will always be dangerous.

But come on: President Snow had Haymitch's whole family killed because Haymitch embarrassed the Capitol. They probably send engineers in to design new workplace hazards.
