He proposed an international HVDC electric grid and a monetary system based on the energy thus shared.

Technically such a scheme is actually possible today with modern electrical power technology, but it was a little "out there" when he first proposed it, rather like Arthur C. Clarke's geosynchronous communication satellite proposals were when he first proposed them.

I met Fuller at a small media reception as a kid and he was gracious enough to spend some time speaking with me as an odd 12 year old know-it-all, ignoring many pushy adults who wanted to talk to him.

...Bucky Fuller was so prescient on many other projections. With the right political climate, a focus upon Fuller's 'livingry' instead Ray Guns 'weaponry' he probably would have gotten that one right as well. Perhaps 2025?
