(30,058 posts)Would be able to work together. Our nation would see an economy growing, there would be ample jobs and wages. This would be a great way to cut the food stamps and other social nets. More income taxes coming in and less people living in poverty.

(10,337 posts)Many years ago, I was (still am I guess) a sheet metal worker and we were putting a tin lined copper roof on the new San Francisco Opera house. The S.F. Symphony was rehearsing Chopin's piano concerto #1 which happened to be one of my favorites so I disappeared from the roof and snuck into the wings to listen. When they finished, I applauded and told them that it was fabulous. I may lose my job because of this but it was worth it. There I was, standing in the wings wearing filthy overalls, a hard hat and work boots. I'm sure I looked like shit but the entire S.F. Symphony gave ME a standing ovation. Not something I will forget.
Edited to add; I was a union member so I didn't lose my job.

(5,668 posts)left right center crazy not crazy everyone loves that video. good ol Symphony #9 Beethoven was a master and always was an emotional song. pretty good on 1812 too (sorry I will misspell his name) and no this isn't classical music. Baroque I believe 1812 is primarily only good when using real canon's and there's a big warning about your hearing on it.
But people in a flash mob are not going to be blowing canon's. so #9 now is a must.

(38,726 posts)listening to this, not knowing where it came from. 14 years later I found out. Written so long ago, yet never forgotten, by someone who couldn't hear the music. Incredible...from 9th Symphony..4th Movement..., Beethoven .."Ode To Joy" probably my favorite...

(85,966 posts)I hope someday that I'm some place where one of these starts up. LOVE LOVE LOVE these symphonic flash "mobs"! I'd actually be tempted to run up there and take the conductor's spot, but usually that's already claimed. I've seen several of these with this particular conductor presiding. Just totally love this!!!
