(45,358 posts)Zero doubt that kid is going to be much better than me, and MUCH better than GNR's drummer.

(86,534 posts)six year old who's obviously more talented than the drummer on the recording. Now if his parents can get him to play some real music on those things, I'll be really impressed.

(811 posts)He's a drummer, Teach him another instrument, keep him challenged. If he's that accomplished on a trap set this fast, what else can he achieve?
The circle of musicians I hang with have a joke for Drummers who can play no other instrument,
Q: What do you call a drummer without a Girlfriend?
A:Homeless.

(86,534 posts)I like that joke, haven't heard it in a while. The young drummer should be taught other instruments AND to read music too. By that age I was reading the grand staff and in a couple years after that I was performing with an all adult choir, except for me, and able to read most scores... we were doing Bach, Beethoven, Handel, etc...
If he has shown this talent by this age, he needs to keep challenged, as you said. And hopefully his parents allow him access to some real music beyond the two or three chord stuff he's playing to, and know that there are vocalists who don't sound like an alley cat with asthma making noises as if it's undergoing brain surgery without anesthesia.
Wish the kid well.
