And yet this guy will still keep voting for the people who want to "repeal, repeal, repeal" it.

I appreciate his sentiment. I appreciate his willingness to write the letter. I hope the letter does some good.

I'm a little ticked off (maybe saddened?) as once again a republican only "gets it" when something happens directly to them.
I'm also a little ticked off (maybe saddened?) as I get the feeling that this isn't causing this guy to look any deeper into what foxnews and the GOP have been feeding him all these years.

I wish that for just a second, this guy might connect the dots:

1) The GOP said Obamacare is the worst thing ever and should be repealed and wiped from the face of the earth.
2) I now know that the GOP was clearly lying about that.
Therefore 3) MAYBE the GOP has been lying about other stuff.

Instead, it sounds like this is happening:

1) The GOP said Obamacare is the worst thing ever and should be repealed and wiped from the face of the earth.
2) I now know that the GOP was clearly lying about that.
Therefore 3) BENGHAZI! KENYAN! BIRTHCERTIFICATE! SOCIALISM! JEB BUSH 2016!! TAKE THE SENATE 2014!

I know that not unquestioningly accepting everything that comes out of the White House is an increasingly unpopular stance around here, but has this been independently verified? I don't want Dems being left with egg on their faces if it turns out to be as bogus as the anti-Obamacare scare stories.

seeing as he listed his name and home city, if it weren't the gop and/or the media would have ferreted it out and reported on it by now ... just as the media has done with the gop shills.

I'm sure the GOP will go after him one way or another, but I shall wait to see whether their line of attack is "he doesn't exist" or some lame ad hominem attacks, like the ones directed at the models who appear on the front page of healthcare.gov ("he looks kinda gay, snicker&quot .

And they're still doing it. They are still all over the airwaves, especially on Fox "news", lying their asses off about the ACA.

How can you be a member of a party that maintains their existence entirely through lies?

Chances are he'll instead continue to vote for those who would take away his coverage.

A person writing a letter denying a core principle of his party is very much evidence that he can change. I believe he already has and saying he was a staunch republican was only to alert others like himself that you could not believe Fox news and republicans. Every republican that reads this will be saying one of our own is saying this, we need to think more and listen to republican talking points on Fox news less.
It is not often pointed out except for individuals what a financial lifesaver Obamacare is but it is also a structural improvement in the country as a whole. I will create new companies and new products and help many better participate in the democratic process as well. Thank President Obama.
But Obama will not be around forever and like the republicans prior to 2010, we must plan ahead and seize our opportunities if we are going to advance the strength of our party. It is very likely, that here in Ohio, the die is already cast by the monstrous Gerrymandering already accomplished by Republicans. So we probably already know there will be 12 Republicans and only 4 Democrats in the US House of Representative even though the vote will be likely 50/50. But we must work now to ensure this Gerrymandering beast is destroyed with an independent redistricting commission who institute competition in congressional districts.
Please go on moveon .org and pledge to work to kill Gerrymandering in Ohio. Doesn't the Democrat we elect in 2016 deserve a congress who will work with him or her. Pledge to stand with democracy . The link is http://petitions.moveon.org/sign/gerrymandering-in-ohio?mailing_id=21176&source=s.icn.em.cr&r_by=2219225 .

I was pissed when I first heard the Rethuglicans using it, then I started to understand what it really meant. It's like naming Social Security after FDR. Today the Reich-wing would be screaming, "Keep your hands off my FDR!"

The best line on Obamacare is this one, a line from an impeccable source, a line that Obama should have on his gravestone:

"Democrats protected the unemployed starting with the New Deal, then the old, then the poor. Now, thanks to (Obamacare), millions of working families will go to bed at night knowing that they are not an illness away from financial ruin." - David Brooks, NY Times,March 22, 2010.
