Janeane Garofalo & Sam Seder Look Back At The Insane Media Landscape Leading Up to the Iraq War

Janeane was one of the lone voices of sanity to get on the air in those days. It's easy to forget how insane things were MSNBC canned Donahue for Michael Savage, Dixie Chicks boycotts, Freedumb Fries, etc.

The antiwar movement was shut out, marginalized and intimidated and Janeane was quite brave in taking all of that on. She'll forever be one of my heroes:

Here are the 2003 clips they're referencing:

Just wait until the next mission.

The worst thing? They got away with it. The Bush Administration along with their media allies got away with it.

President Obama chose to look forward rather than investigate events leading up to the Iraq War, the way intelligence was falsified. Why didn't I say "cherry picked"? Because intelligence was falsified, not cherry picked. It was criminal, it was treason. And my President had a hand in letting them get away with it.

Janeane and Sam were one of my favorites to listen too, besides Randi Rhodes. I miss Air America.. and Wish there was something like it again, on AM Radio. I still catch Randi Rhodes, but her time is short it seems on the local station in the Bay Area.

It's a wonder they even talked her into appearing on fxnws. You can see by the disjointed attack how uncomfortable they were with the responses they were getting. Not being allowed to put words into her mouth. Not being able to discuss her opinions or statements. All in all I would say that fxnws had their butts handed to them.

The problem was, nobody saw it that way at the time. Thanks to the lack of any follow up retaliation by Obama or the Democratic party, Bill O'Reilly, Steve Douchebag and company remain emboldened. But then, Bill Crystal has never been right about anything, but still gets airtime to spout his views.

I also loved listening to Air America with Janeane.

Its so telling Fox's motive for having her on when the idiot says "You're a CELEBRITY!" (ie. what do you know?...are you so full of yourself you think everyone should listen to you?!!) That was their whole purpose, to first pull a couple of gotcha questions, and when that didn't work on her because she was too intelligent for that, they fall back on the celebrity bashing (which is why they brought her on).

By that point I had stop listening to the media as I would break out yelling at the television anytime I did.

I guess one lesson we should take from that time is that nothing fundamental has changed about our society. Our population is still subject to that same kind of manipulation. Alternative media seems to me at the moment the only viable answer.
