“Because while the truncheon may be used in lieu of conversation, words will always retain their power. Words offer the means to meaning, and for those who will listen, the enunciation of truth. And the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this country, isn't there? Cruelty and injustice, intolerance and oppression. And where once you had the freedom to object, to think and speak as you saw fit, you now have censors and systems of surveillance coercing your conformity and soliciting your submission.

How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

I know why you did it. I know you were afraid. Who wouldn't be? War, terror, disease. There were a myriad of problems which conspired to corrupt your reason and rob you of your common sense. ”

...at least you know what slant they're coming from. And in my view, corporate-owned media is even more insidious, as evidenced by:

1. The continued presence and dominance of animals like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, and their ilk;
2. The continued success and operation of Foxy News and wannabes at CNN;
3. The near-death of Progressive Talk Radio;
4. The absence of any legitimate "leftward" presence on the Sunday Talking Head TV Parade;
5. The irrelevance of most of the stories passed off as "news" on all forms of television;
6. The absolute CRAP that passes for entertainment, on all forms of electronic media.

One would have to be a complete IDIOT to take anything said by any media outlet as Gospel. You bring your salt shaker - I certainly do with RT, as I would with Al Jazeera or any other foreign-owned outlet with governmental support. Not to mention places like Democracy Now (whom I respect).

But I bring an entire Morton Salt Can with me when I watch CNN, MSNBS, or Foxy News. Or anybody else owned by corporate entities in this country. They all have agendas, and they have ads to sell. And they have advertisers who they dare NOT offend.

that calls for regime change in the USA.

Also, I mostly don't believe the media reports either, unless there are multiple trust-worthy sources that can corroborate EVERYTHING.

As far as the right wing shock jocks go, however, they are cash cows. That's why the exist. People listen to them. The only thing that will make them go away is when people stop listening.
