EPISODE BREAKDOWN:Eavesdropping on Afghanistan, Uruguay's Bad-Ass President, Nigerian Government Crimes, March Against Monsanto & Meaningless AUMF.
On this episode of Breaking the Set, Abby Martin talks about the newest revelations from Wikileaks that the country having all of its phone calls recorded by the NSA, that was previously redacted by The Intercept, is Afghanistan.
Abby then applauds Uruguay's President, Jose Mujica, for his decision to give up his presidential mansion to 100 Syrian refugee children, accept Guantanamo Bay detainees into the country and reject the war on drugs. Abby then interviews Eugene Puryear, Organizer with the ANSWER Coalition, about the Boko Haram terrorist attacks and kidnappings of over 200 girls in Nigeria and the wisdom of sending in a US military force to track down the missing girls.
Abby then calls on her viewers to take part in the March Against Monsanto, a worldwide event in which activists take to the streets to voice their concerns over GMO foods and the lack of transparency when it comes to our food.
BTS wraps up the show with an interview with RT Political Commentator, Sam Sacks, about the House of Representative's decision to strip out an amendment to the Defense budget that would have repealed the Authorization for Use of Military Force, which is the justification for nearly all the actions taken during the War on Terror.

(84,711 posts)And...reminds me of when we here on DU were so Activist until some lost their souls..to the status quo.
She interviews people that we don't know about and goes back to what we were during Bush when we were all so "into issues."
Also that she shows that there are MANY WORKING FOR CHANGE...that our MSM doesn't tell about here in USA.. There is always a Positive "Working for Change" underlying her interviews and those she features who are "out there doing work" (mostly the young) that we don't here about here in the USA or on DU which focuses on the RW Wars against Dems.
World has moved on...and, I love her young voice to dig down and open up her show to voices that are not heard or are disparaged.

(2,060 posts)tell he's not bullshitting about anything. Abbey Martin...well, she at times goes a little overboard in her assaults. JMO. However, she is at times very convincing and her delivery is far above American news hosts.

(84,711 posts)but I prefer that to CNN/MSNBC and the REST...so sure of themselves with their Talking Points from both Dem and Republican Think Tanks and the garbage Partisan Stuff...we have been turned off for years.
love the YOUNGER VOICES.. She's one of them. And hope she doesn't "sell out" like so many do when they have to make living...and the PTB are their waiting to "corrupt the message" like they've done for decades.
She has a good eye for hypocrisy.

(2,060 posts)simply people who dress up in nice clothes and tell lies. The one I really didn't care for on RT was Liz Wahl. Just something about her. I mainly watch the BBC on Netflix, which does wrap-ups daily.

I thought she did good reporting on Bradley Manning's Court Case (RT put her on it...but she seemed fair in that reporting) but, then it turned out she was working for RW'ers. (who could figure).
But Mike Papantonio reported on it here in V&MM and others reported who she was hooked up with.
Then RT kept Abby even thought she critisized Putin (what I know of watching Abby is that she's Pacifist and so she would object to Crimea Annexing by Putin) and she reported she was not going to lose her job because she disagreed with that. But, the Crimea Situation went against her Pacificist views...so I understood her reasoning. Think overall she does great shows that make one think more about the Human Rights and Progressive issues we used to discuss here on DU...and for that I give her credit.
