(18,998 posts)Is it a 24/7 coverage on CNN?...with a Kiev perspective?
Any mention of the white phosphorus?

(5,069 posts)mention the white phosphorous.
The fluidity of arms (as well as nuclear material) out of Russia/USSR has been an issue since the end of the Cold War. The separtists/terrorists/militants of all kinds would have no problem finding available weapons.

(3,982 posts)Much is missing though. RT is biased, but our media no less. I don't really watch it (I don't need to, while the mainstream press represses news, there are enough progressive sites that are doing investigative reporting). As for RT, while they have programs that focus toward that bias, much of the content is simply from the Russian viewpoint.
It really depends on your mindset if you see the russian viewpoint as propaganda, or just use empathy to consider it in one's evaluations of events.
Right wingers look at liberal news outlets and see "propaganda" because of their mindset. Same goes for the cold war mentality that we have grown up with.

(8,821 posts)Even though the Western press is now also covering this story (once the video was out, they had no choice).

(6,419 posts)This report doesn't mention Russia doing it at all and implies Ukraine shot their own plane down! WTF? Why is this BS on DU? What next, KKK TV blaming lynchings on the NAACP?
How many more will die for Putin's expansion into his "New Russia" empire?

(8,821 posts)Do you really think no one will get your point otherwise?

(3,982 posts)And that is saying a lot, since they get most of their information from the heavily monitored and propagandized outlets in Kyiv.
Where are you reading unhope? You are obviously getting your information directly from a heavy propaganda source?
uhnope
(6,419 posts)What are you even listening to? This report starts off with the passive sentence construction "was shot down" in order to not mention who shot it down, and then proceeds to report on everything the Ukrainian military has done--total implication that the Ukrainian military shot their own plane down. It's disgraceful lies from the inventors of modern day propaganda, the Russia gov. Where talking 49 dead here and imminent war in Europe because Putin wants "New Russia", you realize that, don't you?
newthinking
(3,982 posts)RT titled the video "Ukraine military Il-76 plane downed by self-defense forces"... ah duh?
Seriously, you seem to be getting so emotionally invested in a particular viewpoint that you see even common sentences as having hidden messages? Maybe you need to take a break and get some fresh air.
The links to other media are above and if you go to them you will see that they are all saying it was the rebels.
I mean why in the world wouldn't the rebels want to claim this? I would think from their perspective it is just as damaging to perception and to those they are fighting for them to know that they are able to shoot down their transports. That is to their advantage???
uhnope
(6,419 posts)and even "self defense forces" is BS...
This RT report wants to cover up the fact that the Russian forces in Ukraine seeking to cut off more of Ukraine for Putin is using serious arms from Russia to shoot down and kill Ukrainian people in a transport plane...They want to portray it as some kind of big violent mess that is Kiev's fault for being aggressive against "self defense." It's a bad joke but typical from the Kremlin.
Um, I think totalitarian Russia taking over more of Europe is something we should get emotional about, BTW. Don't you?

(3,982 posts)[font size = "2"]They go out and beat people if they wear a red shirt, or at times just for talking in Russian.
I am sure they think their paranoia is rational.

Damn those "Muscali" rebels are everywhere!

(6,419 posts)Do you support the totalitarian govt of Russia?
The antigay laws?
The closing down of all independent media?
The imprisonment of Pussy Riot for singing a protest song?
What are you doing on a progressive site with your right wing views supporting a dictatorship?

(55,981 posts)like are attempts by those that think they know what's best for me to see. What do you think is harmed by the OP? If the information is biased or in error, then present that case and stop screening for banning. Please give the rest of us some credit for being able to come to our own conclusions.
And this, "Time for you to stop avoiding the issue about your support of totalitarianism". That has no business here.

That indeed looks like it may have been (white phosporus?). Anyone know nighttime munitions well enough to say if there is something else that could have been deployed that produces that kind of light?

(8,821 posts)I would have to say it looks like the identical weapon. One could try to find some of the 2009 video of those attacks, I think I saw it on Al Jazeera America?

(3,982 posts)propaganda.
Our media constantly does this. It is called not verifying and then getting caught looking the fool.
I hope you don't mind, given that you have evidenced distaste toward the Russian Culture as a whole (and won't even say one single thing about the Russian people that is nuanced or positive) if I don't take your word for it.
I am pretty good about verifying this. But given the fact that the military there is headed by Right Sector and Svoboda leaders, extremists, and given the history so far, it is not out of character that they would worry about "burning a few colorado beetles" as they say.
