"Girl In A Country Song" EVISCERATES Male Chauvinism in Music Videos!
We're all familiar with the classic MTV format: Women are scantilly-dressed, objects for men to ogle, and are usually referred to as "girl" as opposed to, you know, an actual name! This tune positively skewers that attitude. Hear hear, Maddie and Tae!

2. Very nice.
Role reversal is always an excellent litmus test for this sort of problem.

4. this is too fuggin' excellent. i LOVE. and that is no... bullshit.
my youngest son was watching with me having a fuggin blast until he figured it was a trap. living in texas, i told them, the only thing that would get them sent to boys ranch is if they started sporting a big belt buckle, wore a gallon hat and listened to country western. he ran out of the room, sure it was his ticket to boys ranch.
great song. love the women. thank you so much. i love that women addressed this and the men that played in the video, good job. from, seabeyond |

5. I just watched the video
and it was filled with "women are scantilly-dressed, objects for men to ogle." And men in some of the revealing clothing women often choose to wear.
I missed the skewering part and just saw more of the same only it was the women who were doing the exploiting. |

10. I lasted less than a minute before I turned it off
I'm glad they are standing up for women's rights and all but it was still just a crappy pop country song.

11. It's cute.
[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]It's feisty and humorous, and it demonstrates some mocking role reversals that the young'uns will like.
If it reaches some of the teenaged girls and young women who don't "get" the concept or point of feminism -- especially the rural ones, who listen to country music -- it's all good. ![]() |

12. Yeah, but those guys were funny as hell.
I am not a fan of country music, but this was a good song.

8. The fluffy guy in the cutoff overalls is a great sport
This is a great song by good singers and a tight band.
If country keeps cranking out Dixie Chicks and Maddie and Tae, I might have to rethink despising it. (No, seriously, I've always been able to tell good and bad apart, I just can't listen to it for more than half an hour before getting homicidal) (fluffy, the fourth stage of overweight according to Gabriel Iglesias: big, healthy, husky, fluffy, and DAMN!!) |
