(14,570 posts)Impeachment and recall are two very serious things. If either comes up, and you are basically sane, you start asking questions. What has the person actually done that merits this. As you dig deeper, at least in the case of Obama, you'll find out how oppositional and unproductive this Congress has been. Then, you will listen to the grounds that are being brought up, and when you realize that his executive actions have pretty much been it in terms of any government actions, you are forced to the conclusion that impeachment is unwarranted. And, you'll vote accordingly.
The appalling thing is that Americans generally like their toe fungus better than this Congress. The Republicans have NOT been a loyal opposition; rather their actions have bordered on treason. Of course, corporate owned media don't really report that, but if impeachment comes up, those stories will come out.
Moderates like Eisenhower need to take back the Republican party. If you read his 1963 essay 'Why I'm a Republican' you can see that the moderate Republicans can in fact contribute, and can help us move forward. Plus, Ike and the moderates were willing to negotiate - they just didn't roll over the opposition. We've got to get these extremists out of Congress.

(297,123 posts)No one who is "moderate" politically would go along with the RW in going after the President. Obama's done nothing impeachable. He's put up a valiant -- and not always successful -- struggle against the rogues gallery in the picture and their loyal, racist followers. And history will show that there was nothing more he could have done, if he wanted to be a real President and not a RW quisling.
We -- as a species -- may not have much longer on this Earth. Certainly, as a civilization. But as long as there are histories being written, the current crop of goons in the GOP will be remembered as obstructionist corporate whores who struggled mightily to destroy the fabric of this country and the viability of the planet.
(Whoever did the survey needs to go back and scrutinize the "moderates." Actually, maybe go back and call them out as less than honest. "Yeah, I'm a moderate on account of I don't think lynching is always a good idea." "Yeah, I been moderate all my life and I think, fer example, rubber bullets ought be used agin' them hispanic kids instead o' live ammo." "I'm sure as hell a moderate cuz when my uncle wanted for us to drop a nukular bomb on Iraq and Iran I said maybe just Iran cuz Iraq's not gonna invade us any time soon." Yeah, those kinds of moderates.)

(14,570 posts)got elected in the first place. Sure, gerrymandering and all, but still how can any sane person listen to some of the poppycock coming out of their mouths and not laugh. The thing that makes me angry is we're paying these turkeys really good wages, lifetime pension and lifetime healthcare and they've done nothing but undermine the republic every step of the way.
For God's sake, this isn't the United States of Koch, it is the United States of America.

(182,744 posts)It's like the pull demand created by pharma ads on TV - the receiver knows what they want and if the doctor (in this case politicians) doesn't give them what they want they will go to someone who will.
