2. It is an article of faith among at least some American conservatives

That fascism is a left-wing ideology. After all, they say, look at the name National Socialist German Workers Party.

When that particular piece of twaddle is handed to me, I respond that they must also believe that North Korea is a democracy, since its name is the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

the low information public, and the general public becomes increasingly less informed even without Fox "news. Too many see Socialism as "Commie" with no conception of either definition. No conception that many of our most revered social institutions over the years are Socialist in nature. No conception that the few most content societies in the world are Socialistic, although, granted, they are mostly way smaller and more racially homogenous than the U.S. The basically "benevolent" capitalism that took place in this country after the Great Depression and WWII , was the result of "traitor to his class," FDR, having the brains to realize that starving masses of the public could eventually cause a bloody rebellion unless they were given a purpose in working for a goal. That goal meaning improving the infrastructure of the country was a no-brainer, just as it exists today. Way to also earn a living!
The One Percent, these days haven't the same worries. They can escape to anywhere in the world and leave the rest of us falling apart. Why is the Bush family setting up waaay south of the border? The 1% can survive anywhere. Tough shit for the rest of us left holding the bag. This is the difference between what happened in the thirties "Great Depression' and what is happening now. The PTB don't need us, U.S. citizens, when they have a whole 'nother world of people to exploit.

3. This is why it is essential that Democrats speak out against corporate influence in elections.

The electorate must recognize my party as the non-corporate choice. Then we will win. Emulating Republicans sucks massively.

5. 25% of Texas students in grades 5 and 8 failed the Math or Reading sections of the STAAR state exam.

http://educationblog.dallasnews.com/2013/04/quarter-of-students-in-grades-five-and-eight-fail-staar.html/

Nearly a quarter of fifth and eighth grade students in Texas failed the math or reading sections of the STAAR exam this spring, putting them in jeopardy of being denied promotion in the fall. New test results released Monday by the Texas Education Agency indicated that 25 percent of fifth graders failed in math and 23 percent failed the reading section. Among eighth graders, 23 percent failed in math and 16 percent failed in reading.

Although students in other grades also were tested on the STAAR, the results for fifth and eighth graders were announced early because under state law students in those two grades must pass the math and reading sections to be promoted. In all, about 150,000 students in the two grades face retention if they cannot pass on two retesting dates that have been scheduled. The first retest will be May 14-15, with a final opportunity to pass in June.

expository research paper
“The law goes back into effect this year after a one-year absence,” said Debbie Ratcliffe, a spokeswoman for the TEA, noting that the promotion standards were suspended in 2012, the first year of the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness. The standards date back several years to a law that was passed under former Gov. George W. Bush to curb social promotion, the practice of automatically passing most students regardless of their achievement.

6. Without looking in to this, Texas has gone back to a Whole Language Approach to teach

Language Arts instead of the Multi-sensory Phonetic Approach using phonics. It is well studied and reported on, that both students with Dyslexia or mild reading, writing, spelling and math difficulties/disabilities as well as gifted language students, can all gain a fluency using Phonetics.

Said to think that Texans have allowed Curriculum to slide back in time. Last time, many years ago, mid 1990s, the curriculum fix was for Jeb Bush's computers and computer programs bought with federal funds. Even thought it was an immense failure, the Tea/GOP controlled 2015 Legislature will really go all out for, Privatization, again. Texas Tea-GOP are extremely fascist. Hope Democrats like Wendy Davis and Leticia Van de Putte can stop this slide by being elected as Governor and Lt. Governor of Texas this Nov 2014.
