Related: About this forumPapantonio: Obama’s Union Busters
For both of Obamas elections, union leaders rallied their members to vote in droves for Obama, and those numbers helped secure his victories. But once they were no longer needed, those unions realized that Obama and his advisors were not their friends, and many of Obamas former advisors have actually gone to work as union busters.
Ring of Fire's Mike Papantonio discusses this with attorney David TeSelle.

(5,610 posts)Bernie Sanders IS truly a Union advocate. He has proven this for decades.

(2,060 posts)having voted for Obama twice, I wonder if I am qualified to vote any longer. I am on a withdrawal card from a union right now.

(6,994 posts)the withdrawal card simply means you are not an active member but do you still pay monthly dues?

(2,060 posts)dues on a withdrawal card, only if you not withdraw but are not active. My paragraph structure was poor in my prior answer to Dotymed. The union matter has nothing to do with my questioning my right to vote--only my mental capability thereof for having chosen a candidate who has been so demonstrably bad.

(6,994 posts)As a union member I thought he would do more for the middle class, that is stand up to the damn Republicans, but then I figured out he didn't want to piss of Wall St. But then what other choices did we have ,the first time McCain and then Romney..Had we had either one of those Koch Bros boys we would have a national right to work law and unions would be stuggling..

(4,695 posts)Last time we talked it was almost six years ago. It was a panel discussion The New Yorker magazine had set up, it was in the fall of 2008, so it was while the financial crisis was happening, while it was actually in progress. The economy was crumbling and everybody was panicking. I remember you speaking about the financial crisis in a way that I thought made sense. There was a lot of confusion at the time. People didnt know where to turn or what was going on.
I also remember, and this is just me Im talking about, being impressed by Barack Obama who was running for president at the time. I dont know if you and I talked about him on that occasion. But at the time, I sometimes thought that he looked like he had what this country needed.
So thats my first question, its a lot of ground to cover but how do you feel things have worked out since then, both with the economy and with this president? That was a huge turning point, that moment in 2008, and my own feeling is that we didnt turn.
