Or do they just go after nuts who like to walk around with rifles in public?

I think it's a question that deserves to be asked.

Of course, Mike Bloomberg, the racist mayor who brought us "Stop and Frisk", doesn't have a comment on the new police state.

He's too busy whittling away at the Bill of Rights.

That's my point. The big guy in the White House controls the pentagon last I checked. I'm making fun of the people who blame everything on the Republicans in congress, even when it's things our guys have full control over.

And I thought the gym teachers running detention in the 60's was rough.

Having an MRAP parked outside the classroom and an M16 or grenade
launcher armed school guard watching detentionees could be worse.

automatic M16s from the pentagon/DOD.

The chief of BISD's (Beaumont Independant school district) police department was surprised that the rifles were full auto and ordered them locked in a safe and that they were not to be issued to the police under any condition.

Also receivwed at that time were 10 semi auto 45 pistols. One was issued to an officer (probably to the chief.)

The M16s could be converted to semi automatic fire only. But the cost of $50 for parts per gun and the gunsmith's fee was seen as prohibited by the BISD.

ROTC TRAINING so they CAN go directly into bootcamp from school, and into the military, so they can be sent directly into a war zone. Train those kids early, with m16s and grenade launchers and by the time they reach bootcamp, they will be set to go.

And yes, this is I N S A N E.

'Overstocked with, and lacking funds to store or use worthless shit, government gives it away to anyone who will take it off their hands for free. In order to buy newer useless shit.'

Or not, as the case may be. One of the little items in news stories that have come out of the vote for Scottish independence is that they want to ship all the nuclear missiles to the south who wanted them. But England doesn't have places to store that overpriced, obsolete, worthless shit.

What to do? Maybe it's finally time to melt the worthless shit down to make trains or buses or cars or some other worthwhile and useful shit. Police used to melt down guns seized because they are worthless shit, to make manhole covers for utilities as it's good metal.

Just a helpful suggestion, albeit rather disrespectful to the manufacturers and their employees whose profits came and had jobs making all this formerly sanctified, but now utterly useless shit.

JMHO. YMMV.

They make 40mm tear gas canisters that work out of these, as well as bean bag rounds for less-than-lethal measures.

And while I can see a school safety officer having a potential need for a bean bag gun, I'd think an old-fashioned pump shotgun firing bean bag slugs would be a LOT more appropriate than a military-grade launcher.

Functioning 40mm explosive grenades are strictly prohibited in the US. Each individual grenade would be treated the same as a functioning machine gun, requiring loads of paperwork, tax stamps, etc to possess.

First, everyone knows that cops have a tough job. Imagine how much easier it will be to break up a food fight in the cafeteria when you can lob a half dozen gas grenades in through the windows. That way the cops make sure to quell the public disturbance without risking getting their uniforms mussed.

The San Diego Unified School District never planned to use its vehicle, applied for ansd accepted it so that it could lease it out to the San Diego Police Department in order to enhance its own revenue. The School Board does some pretty silly things, but this rather meets with my approval.

our mid-sized Tennessee town recently received an "MRAP" vehicle from the federal govt. I guess they are "the bomb" for crowd control.

Our town borders Ft. Campbell, Ky. and most of "our" LE are ex-military, yet according to the local newspaper, they do not have personnel trained in how to use this fortress on wheels (tracks?) so the LE community will first have to learn how to operate it and then the certified operators will be able to use this sophisticated killing machine on our citizens. We received this vehicle of war shortly after it was announced that the federal govt. was ceasing its practice of giving military hardware to local governments....
Oh well, the MIC made its (at least) millions of dollars first, by selling the "MRAP" to the military even though it appears they were MRAP poor..

Lets elect Bernie.
