The Democrats hold a convention and decide to nominate Pat Roberts as their candidate?

And then endorse Orman?

Does the state's chief elections official then count any vote for Roberts as a vote for Roberts or does he have to count the votes for Roberts the Democratic Party nominee separately from the vote for Roberts the Republican Party nominee? Could Roberts (D) siphon enough votes away from Roberts (R) and throw the race to Orman?

Kobach will want to count all votes for Roberts as a vote for Roberts, but the Democrats may threaten legal action. In any case, there will be such a pissing contest between Kobach and the Democrats about how to count votes for Roberts that everyone will know that the only real alternative to voting for Roberts will be to vote for Orman, which is not what any Koch $norter wants.
