She apparently just got picked up by Fox as a contributor. Has been a regular on one of their shows.

(445 posts)All she asked were stupid got-ya questions that did nothing to further the conversation or help better inform viewers. I'm glad Robert Kennedy Jr. called her out.

which is a classic straw man argument. At least she did let him answer the question, although he did have to force through it at one point, which means she needs a little more work to be a FOX headliner.

(45,984 posts)She's not the first political activist (not all from the far right) posing as a journalist to ask stupid gotcha questions like "If you're such an environmentalist, are you going to give up your cell phone or your car?"
Of course he isn't. However, he is going to drive less and not make any unnecessary trips for which he could use a bicycle or his feet. He's going to maintain his vehicle so it burns fuel more efficiently, unlike the assholes who think it's good fun to turn their pick ups into coal rollers. And he is going to continue to advocate for renewable energy sources to supplement and eventually supplant fossil fuel, unlike the Koch brothers who want to levy a tax on homeowners who install solar panels.
Mr. Kennedy will also participate in mass demonstrations on Wall Street. There's no point going to Congress when most congressmen are servile villains to Wall Street or fossil fuel corporations. We're bypassing the politicians and going to their bosses.

Bernie Sanders got her number and dialed it, but hard!! Love it how the supposed-'reporter' does a 180 when Bernie asks a simple question back... "I don't get my funding from anywhere..." -- oops, could I interpret that to be a complete lie? Let the word go out far and wide, PJTV appears to be low-brow FoxNews wannabe without 'any funding from anywhere', and yet somehow they have studios, operate cameras, rent studio facilities, edit and produce, interview and have reporters. Soooo interesting how this is all without funding.
I wonder if Scott Ott out of Texas has any ideas?

(1,782 posts)and, however unintentionally, she gives him a platform to describe a reasonable resolution to that paradox.
Climate change is the biggest challenge that the human community faces. The leaders of the movement to address climate change believe that street protest is essential to the movement. Street protest requires fossil fuel transportation (even if you took the bus or the train) as well as the use of electronics like iPhones. These things contribute to the problem. (Not sure I see how electronics contribute, but give her that point for the sake of argument.)
Ask RFK Jr. rightly points out, the only way out is to change the system so that people *can* live in a sustainable way. In our system, to give up your own transportation and electronics is, unfortunately, to give up your voice. Rather than giving up your voice, change the system that requires you to pollute in order to be heard.

I'm sure the right wing would love it if everyone who cared about the environment would marginalize themselves by giving up their cel phones and moving into mud huts and eating moss. Yeah, that's be a great way to lead by example. Adopt an 18th Century lifestyle.

(492 posts)Would be better to leave her as the anonymous tool she is, asking inane questions in a smug, adolescent voice.
She is exactly the reason why Fox is a pox on American journalism and it's already sadly declining values of honesty, integrity, and thirst for truth. Far from "interviewing" a man with considerable knowledge of environmental issues, she spits talking points and smarmy, irrelevant questions at him and completely ignores his responses.
Not that the rest of the "news" media was much better, hardly whispering about this most massive protest for the environment in history and leaving it virtually unreported. But better silence than the ignorant nastiness of this young lady.

(264 posts)Give her some time to grow into her job, I don't think she has been doing it that long.....
These days like she says on her c-span interview "all you need to be a 'reporter' is an i-phone".
Remember that Barbara Walters was originally the weather lady on the today show.
Mike Wallace was originally a game show host.
It's just a shame that she will do her 'internship' at Fox and not at CBS, it will take her years to unlearn what they will teach her there...
Here's her c-span interview: http://www.c-span.org/video/?302838-1/qa-michelle-fields
