(45,984 posts)Of course, it wouldn't surprise me one bit.
Nevertheless, Shep Smith is a responsible journalist, even if we don't always agree with his opinions. What you see on that video is responsible journalism. He presented facts and did nothing to cut to size or hammer to fit the facts to Rupert Murcoch's opinion, or even his own.
If news outlets were baseball teams, I'd like to see NBC News trade Mr. Toad to FoxNews for Shep Smith. They would both be better fits at their new networks.

(9,298 posts)Trading Shep Smith to MTP and sending Chuckie along over to Faux Snooze sounds about right.
He was a good reporter during Katrina, too....remember?

(45,984 posts)Pointing out there was a major fuck up that could be laid on the doorstep of a man who, village idiot though he was, was still the man FoxNews wanted the whole world to believe walked on water, was not something expected from FoxNews. I have tremendous respect for Shep Smith.

(45,984 posts)He clearly misspoke and there's no reason to believe the error was intentiontial. If Hannity did the same thing, I would be less sure of that.

I am probably one of the last persons who would defend FOX news or their newscasters, however, I believe Shep Smith is one of the few FOX newscasters who is honest. I think he truly misspoke.

(402 posts)I have often wished for Shep Smith to leave FOX "news". I think he is the only honest, decent person that works for that station. However, I think that he is a voice of reason and as long as he is at FOX, he may have a chance at opening the minds of the faithful FOX viewers to the truth of what is really going on in this world instead of the BS that FOX touts on their other programs.
