They only showed the pictures but not video because they are worried that Americans would catch W. Bush's laughing face during that very moment. W. Bush doesn't care about how Iraqis feels about him.

The larger the mob, the harder the test. In small areas, before small electorates, a first-rate man occasionally fights his way through, carrying even the mob with him by force of his personality. But when the field is nationwide, and the fight must be waged chiefly at second and third hand, and the force of personality cannot so readily make itself felt, then all the odds are on the man who is, intrinsically, the most devious and mediocre — the man who can most easily adeptly disperse the notion that his mind is a virtual vacuum.

The Presidency tends, year by year, to go to such men. As democracy is perfected, the office represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. We move toward a lofty ideal. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

Talk about influencing an election!!!

For any of them who don't think their vote matters, it actually does moreso in mid-term elections. If DEMS can get two people to vote, it's like having 12 democratic votes compared to the opposition; 3 is like 18, 4 is like 24 and so on and so on.

Maybe democrats think they can't vote in mid-term elections? Who knows!?

then in the next breath tell how Reagan was the greatest president of the past century and Bush protected us from terrorism and on and on.

There is such a cognitive disconnection with these people. I often tell them that if their loyalty to their faith is half as strong as their loyalty to their politics, they'd be up for sainthood.

39. Next time, ask them what they're trying to "conserve"
Fri Oct 24, 2014, 07:29 AM

Conservatives (read: Republican Party) are certainly not trying to conserve the environment and the precious resources of this planet for future generations. They're stealing from their grandchildren, whether they realize it or not.

Conservatives are not trying to conserve the American Dream for average citizens who work hard and play by the rules, with economic policies (began under Reagan) that make the rich richer while putting the squeeze on working families.

Conservative foreign policy is radical (not conservative) with the so-called "preemptive" war against Iraq that opened a Pandora's box of trouble in the Middle East and cost $trillions. And the worst terrorist attack on American soil occurred under the watch of GW Bush after he ignored dire warnings and repeated requests to take the al Qaeda threat seriously.

Budget deficits skyrocketed under Reagan & Bush, while they were reduced under Democratic administrations. So-called "fiscal conservatives" are anything but. Their long term goal was spelled out by Grover Norquist (whose anti-tax pledge most of them have signed): Shrink government to a size that can be drowned in the bathtub. This means the elimination of Social Security and Medicare, and the only way that can be achieved is to make these popular programs unaffordable. And the only way to do that is Huge. Budget. Deficits.

Republican policies create huge budget deficits. This is a documented fact, and it is no mystery. When taxes are cut while launching costly wars and outsourcing American jobs overseas, the standard of living goes down for the real job creators (the American consumer) while the ultra-rich who put the politicians in office get even richer.

Most people who understand the effects of these "conservative" policies can see why the result is huge deficits and a sagging economy for the average American. But most think these policies are simply misguided -- failing to achieve what the policymakers intended. However, given the long term goal to shrink government and eliminate popular programs like Social Security it becomes apparent these policies are indeed having the intended effect.

The authoritarian mindset includes an inability to think for onesself.

This is the real reason the Congress can't get anything done, they
are mentally and psychologically crippled. They are lost without
somebody to tell them what to do. If only Charles and David could
be President, or Donald Trump, bless his creepy little heart.

When are voters going to wake up and see that the GOP is only interested in breaking the government to let private corporations take over?

Examples:

Post Office
National Parks
Public Education
Space Program
Pensions and other retirement benefits
Public utilities.
Public health
Medicare
Social Security
Student loan program
Private (mercenary) armies, eg: Blackwater Inc.

These are only a few examples of where Republican leaders vote to dismantle public institutions so to privatize the profits while creating higher costs for the public.

This is what the Republicans want us to experience again. Tens of millions of lost jobs, worst economy in the USA history, 2 wars that killed thousand of our military for nothing gained. This is all the Republicans have to give to us. Another big failure. They have been doing it since 2008. Trying to destroy the nation, Boehner closed the House, they do no work. Republicans have blocked any progress Obama has tried to make. THIS IS WHAT REPUBLICANS HAVE IN STORE FOR US? Lost of voting rights, worst education, high interest rates on college loans, THIS IS WHAT REPUBLICANS HAVE IN STORE FOR US?
