(5,946 posts)I think he is an ass - a libertarian who leads liberals and progressives off a cliff convincing people that no one is worthy of their vote.

(50,983 posts)There is nothing libertarian about Bernie. You really don't know Bernie at all.

(3,450 posts)Bernie was just holding it in and restraining himself from just spilling his frustration on how the election came out. I am impressed with his passion and I will definitely support him if he runs within the Democratic party or not.

(30,468 posts)though I'd agree that Dems did a shitty job getting their "message" out,
as they frequently do.

(1,750 posts)At this point, he and Elizabeth Warren's job is to act like a "responsible" left Tea Party. We will still have to run as left-center (Hillary Clinton) and then incrementally rule left. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Liberals are irresponsible, get mad at tiny things, are impatient, and are unreliable voters who do not vote in mid-terms. The GOPers and Tea Partiers are reliable, they vote in all elections, and they will vote and put aside differences. We can keep avoiding this fact and we will keep losing..
If our voters are reliable, then Democrats will not act GOP-lite. I know it goes both ways but why don't we liberals insist and vote every time.

(14,255 posts)I thought liberals were just a tiny group!
Sorry, fail.
And fail at the gratuitous swipe at liberals.

(1,904 posts)The fact is 2 thirds of the people did'ne see a reason to vote. There was no "wave" it was a ripple.

(10,539 posts)that we will have to fight for real Democracy and Representative government! He wants Publicly Funded Elections which is the only way to break the stranglehold of the big money that currently runs this country. We should worry about splitting the ticket, so we should forget about Hillary right off of the bat.

In stores &c one feels it as well, but in restaurants (where the aged tend to tip well) it's reversed.

re. Sen. Sanders: It's time. Right now.
No one else on the scene is in touch with... or even *attempting to make contact with*.... reality.
Even if he doesn't win ( I hope he does) he can prod the eventual nominee ( presumably Clinton)and the rest of the party to the left in the primaries while simultaneously educating the electorate in Economics 101.

Economic issues are paramount. Runaway wealth accumulation by a tiny few does not offset massive and continuing drops in the standard of living for everyone else.
Pretending that things are recovering, improving or are OK is a HUGE political loser.

(930 posts)No matter how he is labeled, the core of his ideology used to be the standard Democratic Party ideology...prior to the corporate take over of the party courtesy of the DLC. If this election showed anything, democrats will not turn out in numbers to vote when their candidates talk like republicans.

(37,953 posts)Start talking about meaningful issues to middle class and low income voters and we will win elections. People are tired of the sucking up to the wealthy on both sides and are simply not showing up due to apathy.

(6,699 posts)Yes, it IS regional my young, innocent, smiling fool. Regional in the sense it's the South AND rural bible-belt America.
I know, that breaks down the simple "regional stamp", but it IS the South and "rural America". Time to pick on the "ruralites" as well as the majority of those in the South. Ever watch "Grapes of Wrath", "Places in the Heart"...then fast forward about 70-80 years; and it's much the same. That's the real "bible-belt". Drive cross country sometime and try to find an am radio station that isn't playing evangelical horse biscuits or some intelligent garbage like rush/vannity/savage, or some lesser reich wing nut. Not going to happen. These folks live in a cave and write on stone walls when it comes to a progressive America. Some bat shit crazy in them thar hills.
Yeah, it's regional....the South AND rural America. Nuff said.
