(769 posts)Keystone Pipeline would create more than 175,000 jobs. Which one is it? 40,000 or 175,000 jobs?

(135,425 posts)Because you really need to tap dance to justify bullshit like that pipeline!
Spitfire of ATJ
(32,723 posts)The ballet dancers were an example of that.
It goes like this: The pipeline goes through making a locally rich fuck even wealthier which means he is elevated in status causing him to seek out other rich fucks like himself and thus learn to appreciate the finer things in life like wine at $20k a bottle and, yes, the ballet.
Thus causing a Metropolitan Opera type performance to be done in some place like Casper, Wyoming.

I remember when the Republicans slammed the Census jobs. Oh they are so temporary. yep. but at least we get something out of it. seems awfully expensive for 50 jobs let alone any spill becomes a mini Chernobyl and will never be cleaned up

REAL productive jobs that we need too I suppose! As if the increased threat of domestic terrorism and screwing up our environment in the process is something to be valued.

(57 posts)Americans are a lazy willfully ignorant lot.
Of course Keystone will create jobs. Americans are spoon fed propaganda by the minute, and straight facts served up as truth will be condemned for communism or environmental kookism.
We must learn to disprove propaganda on a case by case basis but we broom back the tide if everyone consumes mass media news.

(165 posts)And they don't know the real facts. The GOP continues on a hourly/ daily basis to LIE about so much happening in this USA and the dumb people listen to those LIES. Obamacare is polling at a low level, but the millions that are enjoying it love it. And the polls show that. SO why are Americans against Obamacare, it is the constant LIES OF THE GOP.
Until we education our people in this nation. This nation will continue to fail and decline under the GOP.

(3,384 posts)GOP Congressmen are LYING to us.
KXL will not make us more "energy independent". The oil will be sold to the country paying the highest price - the oil is not guaranteed to be sold in the U.S. for U.S. consumers. If you believe that, you are getting your info from unreliable and dishonest sources.
Job counts is also a lie and the GOP has no shame about making part-time, short-term jobs sound like permanent positions.
Another fact: Refinery production influences our price at the pump. We have all experienced higher pump priced when a refinery closes for repairs or from an accident. With oil from KXL coming to U.S. refineries that is not intended for our U.S. market, production for will be under even more demand leading to higher U.S. consumer gas prices for Americans.

(1,241 posts)the only parts are between Montana and Nebraska. They will hire maybe 600 fitters and operators and labors for about 6 months then start laying them off because it will be done. And it will take a max of 35 permanent to run the pipeline. They are all computerized, it doesn't take much manpower at all. All they got are pumping stations, the rest is underground. The guys who work the stations have almost nothing to do but house keeping. The pollution stays here, the gas goes overseas and the money goes in Koch brothers pocket.

(57 posts)while having negligible effects globally.
So that's the core of the Republican jobs, energy, and environmental plan that they and the media have lied to the American people about: a few dozen permanent jobs, higher U.S. gas prices, and a large pipeline ripping through the heartland.

(561 posts)You drive a gas burning car.
You heat your home with natural gas.
You spend most of your disposable income on products made from petroleum.
...and.....
You oppose the KXL pipeline?
Excuse me, but something is ass backwards here....
If you didn't buy it, the oil companies would have gone out of business long ago....
If you didn't buy it, many of your sons and daughters wouldn't be in uniform protecting the thugs that sell it to us in the Middle East.
If you didn't buy it they wouldn't be building KXL in the first place.
We've already voted to allow the KXL by the choices we made long ago. A choice of an easy life powered by petroleum. When you decide to return to the lifestyle of the 1800's then you have some room to speak.

(20,453 posts)Our choice, if we were listened to by our legislative branch of govt, would be to invest like never before in alternative geothermal, wind and solar, and remove patents that have been shelved on this technology.
Take the patents off the shelf for the sake of national security. Think about that.
