these charlatans who are trained to glibly parrot RW talking points, even as their own statements (set side by side as Earl has done here) merely ONE WEEK APART DIRECTLY CONTRADICT each other. Some people, I guess, are just dumb.

WE are being manipulated by calculated propagandists.
Billions of dollars have gone into researching HOW
to manipulate perceptions, and applying that research.
(see also: Edward Bernays)

Most people I know don't have the luxury of researching
and keeping track of everything each politician says.
The MSM repeats the talking points that support their own narrative.
The necessary Media Literacy is woefully absent.

The general public responds EMOTIONALLY, not intellectually.
Emotion trumps Reason.
Right-wingers know that and exploit it...hence, hypocrisy.

Normalizing Cuba = tyranny
vs
Torture= serving country , under orders, legal counsel

We, on the left, are also encouraged to look away from the manipulation and to examine the problem as a function of ignorance and stupidity when, in fact, we are all - on some level - being managed.

Hmmm. Now what to do? It's slow going, or seems slow, but rebuilding the culture, valuing education, cooperation, interconnection.......

I wish there was a silver bullet...

An informed and educated Public

Specifically, know and recognize the
right-wing frames and narratives.

The RW fundies totally believe versions of their religious doctrine
and totally believe versions of the world as seen on Fox
and there are a LOT of them.
So Rubio and his ilk simply have to use buzzwords to get the believers's support.
No logic necessary.
Much as we saw with Palin, the buzzwords alone will sweep people along, even when they are bombarded with incoherent sentences.

You and I say to ourselves this is crazy thinking, and we are convinced of that, right/
What we are "misunderestimating" as Bush said, is that these morans are seriously convinced THEY are right.
Logic need not apply, they are ruled by emotions.

They have no morals or values, at all, when it comes to their politics and most on the right would screw their closest family member if they could.

Fuck you Rubio, you are only pissed because you didn't come up with this first. 53 years is long enough..... We have better relations with Russia and China then Cuba..... the only reason the right wingers are pissed at Mr. Obama for the Cuba change is the Latino vote will be in play in 2016.... and I think there are more excited about the change then not, so keep spitting your vile, these people will see who you and your buddy Cruz really are, out for your own ass, not your people....

There is an old story about getting the mule's attention using a 2x4 "up side the head."

Surely the American people, MORE and more American people, will feel the 2x4 before long. The risk is that the clever right wing manipulators misrepresent source of the 2x4 so effectively that people, especially voters, do exactly the wrong thing.

Gotta choose between Rubio or Obama and the Pope. I don't choose the S. Florida Clown. He'll turn around on it as soon as he realizes how much money his money backers are going to make off the Cuban population. He'll shut up when told to by his masters when their baseball teams are all suddenly better because of the influx of Cuban talent. Just shut up "kid". We are really tired of hearing from the Republican Boy Wonder.

Or are they stupid? Do they not think their words will not follow them, that their outrageous hypocrisy will not be thrown back in their face? Do they not realize this is the 21st century where in nanoseconds their words will be on a screen with photos and film of everything they've said in their professional lives in front of the world, the universe, (God if you think that way) and everybody else? Or do they think the entire world is stupid and they can lie, make it up, change the stories, prevaricate on every issue, and like Fox viewers everyone will swallow it whole?

Me? I don't have a freaking clue what they think.
