A 55-year-old Chinese pensioner was beaten to death at Jilin Province Women's Prison in China. Zhao Yanxia was a retired public service employee.

Police had detained Zhao in May for distributing information about the persecution of Falun Gong—a spiritual practice the Chinese regime has been persecuting since 1999.

Zhao received a three-and-half year sentence in September. She died on October 7th, 23 days after she was transferred to the women's prison.

When Zhao's family saw her body, they noticed it was covered with bruises—suggesting she was beaten to death, according to the Falun Dafa Information Center.

The center's executive director is appealing to the global community to hold the Chinese regime accountable.

{Levi Browde, Executive Director of Falun Dafa Information Center}:
"One of the things for doing this call on the international community is to hold the leaders, not just in Jilin Province where the prison camp is located—to hold them accountable—but to hold the whole regime accountable."

Browde says this case highlights the pervasive situation that affects every single one of the millions of Falun Gong practitioners persecuted in China.

I say that based on the apparent increase in protests that are coming out of various media sources. When I was there last year, and in 08, I would hear from someone about a protest from another city--but a week later. Now, with the OWS and protests in Syria, the Chinese underground are seeing these events and begining to develope a little motovation. I know they are seeing these. They are not stupid. Just because Youtube, Twitter, and Facebook is blocked there does not mean that it is not being seen. And I'm also referring to the protest just last week in Guandong Province (story on Yahoo) with the farmers. I was amazing that the authorities backed down and negotiated with them. This, IMO, gives others some inspiration to voice their opinions.
