(4,608 posts)Some people have celiac (1 in 133 Americans), for others it is their choice. Period.

(1,555 posts)and it addresses Celiac disease (which is no where near a common as most people think), as well as genuine allergies and sensitivity.
"for others it is their choice. Period." - Yes it is absolutely their choice... you'll note no one was saying otherwise. In this case, however adding the "Period" to the end of your sentence makes you the smug one.

(4,608 posts)You seem awfully sensitive for someone who posts flamebait about other peoples' personal, albeit trendy, diet choices.
Could be anti-anti-gluten sensitivity.

(1,555 posts)The video addresses that as well. It states that many cases for Celiac Disease (CD) is misdiagnosed.
The prevalence of CD in the United States is unknown. The 1 in 133 stat is a guesstimate based on 2012 numbers... at a time when the rise of Gluten-free diet trends was at its peak. Why do you think that is?

(23,156 posts)who are convinced all gluten is poison to watch something like this.
It's right up there with those who are totally convinced that the electro-magnetic waves from cell phone towers are causing them to be ill.

(11,417 posts)What difference does it make to you?
Don't people have a right to think for themselves?
There probably is a video that disagrees with what you think that you won't watch.

(1,555 posts)People watch Fox News. The vast majority of members on DU understand that Fox News is not credible.
In that very same vein, there has been a massive and sudden push to get gluten free diets out there... in spite of very little scientific evidence to support them.
"There probably is a video that disagrees with what you think" - There's no doubt that they exist.
But, as I said before, this not at issue.
The real issue here is separating hype from fact... and truth from fiction.
There's plenty of disinformation out there for people to consume... so it is important to put out good factual information to dispute that disinformation.
People will still make up their minds, but at least now, they can do so, while being informed.
