(5,756 posts)I remember the time back when I hated myself because I'm gay. So I am sad for those homophobes who are gay and hate themselves.
But I've come out and love who I am now and even though there are still people who discriminate I've been very fortunate. My family my friends, my co-workers all just accept me and accepted my partner when I had one.
So it does make me sad for those homophobes. I understand how disapproving their family and friends might be and how scared they are to just be honest with themselves.
But being a congress person and getting arrested in a men's room does not dignify who you are as a person. So what if you are gay? Love yourself and be a shining example to the world.

(29,503 posts)Particularly those who are violent or verbally abusive. They can go to hell, as far as I'm concerned.
NOBODY has the right to be hateful and bigoted towards others. Not even if you hate yourself.

.... I mean, if they're cute...
Seriously, making everybody else suffer for your neuroses is just tacky.
And if they wanna be straight... then be straight.
Oh... not that easy is it? Hmmmm... I wonder why?
And another thing. When did this either gay or straight thing become the only choices. What happened to the bisexuals?
It seems to me you have 3 sets... completely hetero (a large set) Completely gay (a smaller set) and a huge set of bisexuals that run from those who did it once to those who are 50/50, and everything in between.

(15,386 posts)I'm looking forward to the Phelps clan going apeshit when Fred dies, and they clean out his quarters in their compound, and they discover his huge cache of hardcore gay porn.

(7,875 posts)There are the homophobes who are overcompensating for being secretly gay, but I think some are just bullies and homosexuals are an easy target for them.

(8,401 posts)What I think one can safely say is that homophobes are likely very conflicted about their own sexuality. Does that necessarily mean they are gay? No, but then again human sexuality runs along a spectrum, and is not the binary, black-and-white kind of thing many of us would like to think it is.
