2. Kashmir!!!

Lyrics

Oh let the sun beat down upon my face, stars to fill my dream
I am a traveler of both time and space, to be where I have been
To sit with elders of the gentle race, this world has seldom seen
They talk of days for which they sit and wait and all will be revealed

Talk and song from tongues of lilting grace, whose sounds caress my ear
But not a word I heard could I relate, the story was quite clear
Oh, oh.

Oh, I been flying... mama, there ain't no denyin'
I've been flying, ain't no denyin', no denyin'

All I see turns to brown, as the sun burns the ground
And my eyes fill with sand, as I scan this wasted land
Trying to find, trying to find where I've been.

Oh, pilot of the storm who leaves no trace, like thoughts inside a dream
Heed the path that led me to that place, yellow desert stream
My Shangri-La beneath the summer moon, I will return again
Sure as the dust that floats high in June, when movin' through Kashmir.

Oh, father of the four winds, fill my sails, across the sea of years
With no provision but an open face, along the straits of fear
Ohh.

When I'm on, when I'm on my way, yeah
When I see, when I see the way, you stay-yeah

Ooh, yeah-yeah, ooh, yeah-yeah, when I'm down...
Ooh, yeah-yeah, ooh, yeah-yeah, well I'm down, so down
Ooh, my baby, oooh, my baby, let me take you there

Let me take you there. Let me take you there

4. I like to play it on takeoff....

Been doing that since 2006 whenever I fly, it's a great tune to have come up when the pilot hits the throttles!

"I'm a traveler of both time and space" plays just as the acceleration pushes you back into the seat!

15. For me, it's a tossup

between Kashmir and Achilles Last Stand

FYI I took the family to see the Trans-Siberian Orchestra in December, and they broke into Kashmir midway through the show. Sweet.

10. Two if my favorites here

Kashmir and Immigrant Song. Wait, and the Ocean. OK three of my favorites. Not to say that No Quarter isn't a favorite. And black dog. Can't forget Stairway to Heaven. How Many More Times is also a favorite. Oh I almost forgot Dancing Days.

To hell with it. They're all my favorite

16. D'yer Mak'er as well ....

Oh we could all go on and on.

Never saw Zep as a band (Bonzo died when I was 14), but I did manage to go to a Plant show (I think it was the Manic Nirvana tour) and I saw Page perform with The Firm.

25. I graduated high school in 86

and didn't get into the Zep until a few years later. I got to see Page once, and saw Jimmy during the Outrider tour (Jason Bonham on drums). Both were great shows. I bought this a few years ago, and it is killer. The Kashmir they did live at Knebworth is the best version ever.

5. That rocks, thanks!

Kashmir brings back memories... 62 Austin Healey, updated sound system, middle of the night, western dessert, top down, clear skies. Even without LSD.

24. Heretofore I have hated all attempts to cover the Zeppelin...

the one exception being Dread Zeppelin, because who doesn't like Zep music with a reggae beat and an Elvis impersonator doing the vocals? That being said, this was great, and I think the Jimmy Page is smiling somewhere. Oh, and Kashmir is the greatest song ever written.

27. This one is lower on my favorites by them...

I put The Lemon Song far above it. But, really- just about everything they did was great, and the band had a tremendous effect not only on the sound of music, but how artists get paid. Whether it was recording contracts or the take of the gate, they basically said "we want this, or you can go pound sand". People listened.
