TYT: Afghanistan Withdrawal: 2014 or 2024?

President Barack Obama has essentially declared that the war in Afghanistan is over, but is it? Most troops are supposed to leave by 2014, but based on the strategic partnership agreement signed by Obama and Afghan President Hamid Karzai, the withdrawal date for the remaining troops will be 2024. The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur breaks it down.

Cenk seems to miss that the reason it was a surprise was to make the GOP look stupid.

Romney went to ground zero, with Rudy 9-11, and handed out some Pizza.

Obama went to Afghanistan, thanked the troops, and makes Romney look stupid.

Cenk at least recognizes that Obama did do this well. Politics YES. Cenk SUPPPORTS the trip on the POLITICS.

But then ... Cenk misses the point. We are removing are troops, and we will also keep helping the Afgans. Did we not do that after WWII?

Cenk is a libertarian on the international stuff. So unless we pull every American out ... then we left them ALL there. He's disingenuous on this point.

I agree with Cenk....What are we still doing spending billions of dollars in a tribal country run by George Bush's crooked dictator? We can no longer provide affordable college education to middle class kids, our health care system is a joke, millions of Americans can't find jobs, people are losing their homes yet we somehow can come up with 10 billion a month to occupy a country where the citizens see us as invaders?
So WHO really benefits from this madness? The war profiteers, big oil or the struggling middle class? Where's the debate? We spent what, 4 trillion dollars on these insane wars and exactly how have they improved the lives of the people who'll end up paying the bill?
Instead of offering up the same vague platitudes give us some real answers as to why we're making this a endless drain on our resources when our own people are living on the edge of a depression Mr. President? Granted images of presidents rallying the troops on TV create an impressive image but they aren't a substitute for honesty and polices that truly benefit the people Obama was supposedly elected to serve. I understand it's election time and the focus is on winning an election, but we deserve more than we're getting from the people we elect to represent us...
