(3,426 posts)I think the GOP encourages these types to run - the more the merrier because their role will be to constantly attack, not each other but Hillary of course. Its like Benghazi and birth certificates. No matter how crazy it is, if enough people repeat the same nonsense over and over it gives it the air of legitimacy.

(4,291 posts)Not sure how this escaped everyone's attention here, but several weeks ago, one of the most unlikely GOP figures announced his candidacy, and he makes Carson and Fiorina look... well... almost respectable.
Mark Everson, former IRS Commissioner under GWB, the one who got fired from Red Cross for fucking a subordinate, threw his hat in the ring two months ago. While NewSmacks has taken a shine to him, Forbes can barely conceal their ridicule.
The question -- already asked -- still begs an answer: Is this the best that Republicans can offer? Against Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders? Or are they all attention whores who want to suck Kochs' and other deep-pocket donors' millions of dollars?
Oh, yeah. Right. What was I thinking?
Cue the dogs. On deck: the ponies.

(56,828 posts)does he really believe the crazy BS that he, most of these other right-wingers are spewing, or did he really do something like the above - think it's a fast buck if he can say the right things to the right people?

(13,058 posts)that a man smart enough to be a brain surgeon could really believe those crazy things. But he wouldn't be the first politician to merely say what he thinks his constituents want to hear. But there could be a financial motive as well.

(56,828 posts)he doesn't believe a lot of it. But, being a failed Republican presidential candidate could mean a lucrative career as a lobbyist and/or Fox News guest host and Obamacare "expert."

(750 posts)Both have a high profile rating, however may not be which could qualify as presidential, Carson in Medicine or Fiorina in Electronic Technology are not that crazy clown car kind.
The two are professional in those fields to serve the Republican Party that is deliberate to test Hillary. Considering both did rise through a corporate environment by luck or skill in management is questionable.
What secrets are in the background, we know the Bush family has long time business ties to the Bin Laden family, but the media, and peer power insistently silent about the decades of profiteering between them. So to Cheney that will deal in secret mercenaries Armies who openly embraces torture from my view is a criminal.
A single question alone about waterboarding as torture from a neuro surgeon should be an incredible debate that connects to the American people and the Medical Association or the Constitution which Carson seems to embrace on his website.
Recall, between the media and the Medical Association Tobacco was deliberately kept in a low profile as a carcinogen for around four decades, that being one of the Health Care industry deceptions of the previous century were the media and political peers again was silent.
Perhaps that is a good reason to put Carson in the political arena and watch the preplanned support for torture that would reduce or eliminate those thoughts about Water Boarding as torture or being a crime giving the Republicans a comfort feeling for a new war adorned with more trillion dollar military toys.
